His latest ‘hobby’

Besides sitting in front of all his PCs on his free time, my Ah Beng don’t have much hobbies to boast about. However, a few months ago, some of his colleagues made a bet that my Ah Beng will never take up golf coz it can be a very expensive hobby since most of them knew PiggyBeng is such a ‘kiam-siap’ (stingy) person. And to prove all of them wrong, PiggyBeng really took up golf! (My jaw dropped too!!!)

PiggyBeng has been going to the driving range for practices at any chance he got. In fact, we have been following him to Butterworth pretty often so he can play at the driving range there, which is slightly cheaper than those on the island. We will normally wait for him at the mall next door and do a little shopping.

He hopes to play on the fairways some day when his hits improved. My uncle also invited PiggyBeng to join him at his golf club when he goes to Ipoh. And if I should strike lottery someday, I’ll buy him some Myrtle beach golf packages even!

Soccer anywhere

My brother is an avid soccer fan. Though he do watch soccer matches but only selectively. I knew he’s a huge fan of Liverpool sometime back but I’m not too sure now if he is still supporting this team as there have been quite a lot of shake up recently in the team. There were quite a few of his favourite players whom has left the team and joined others which I’m not sure of.

Besides watching the matches, my brother play the game too with some of his buddies every now and then. However, with the recent unpredictable weathers, it was not easy for him and his buddies to find good fields to play in as many of these fields are often flooded with mud after every heavy downpour.

Maybe I should suggest to him to get himself a portable soccer nets so he can play some practise kicks at the basketball court nearby my parents’ place or the indoor stadium nearby his home. At least he won’t get wet and covered with mud if the weather turns rainy.

Baseball gloves for kids

I have this little cousin who is in her mid teen and she is quite tomboyish as she likes playing all the boy’s type of games. She is very active in her school’s extra curriculum espcially sports and has been representing her school for the past two years playing volleyball and hockey.

Then recently I heard my aunt telling me her daugther is now into another ball game. Out of the blue she is taking up rounders, which is quite similar to baseball and she is a pitcher. I remembered I used to play that game when I was back in my high school days and I kind of enjoyed that game. I wasn’t a good batter so I prefer to be a pitcher.

And since it is going to be Christmas soon, so my aunt was thinking of giving my cousin a new pair of gloves as a Christmas present. My aunt asked if I know of any place selling it but I don’t recall seeing any gloves for rounders except baseball gloves from the online stores that I used to frequent.

I found a pink one from kidsportinc.com but I’m not so sure if my cousin will go for that one. Well, if she don’t like, then she can always go for other colors from the range.
