Is she teething????

Not sure if my instinct is right or wrong but I think Glennedine is teething!

She is only 2 months and 3 weeks old and she has started to drool a lot the past 1 week. She also started to suck her thumb or sometimes all her fingers! At first I thought she is bored since no one entertain her but after a few times I caught her doing that I begun to suspect that she is indeed teething.

A few times she has very watery/runny poo which gave me the hint. Though most breastfed babies has very soft stool, I know the differences between a normal and abnormal ones. Then this morning I caught her doing #2 when I was feeding her (normally she will give me signals that she wanted to poo as she will fart a few times or show me the uneasy look on her face thus I could get her potty ready) so I quickly lay her down. True enough there was some runny poo stained the diaper. Once I got her ready, I told her to ‘push’ and push she did! It actually shot out! It was so forceful that it ended up on my shirt and the floor! :|

This incident really confirmed my suspicion that she is indeed teething. After noting that she can’t sleep soundly the past few days… especially during nap time. She used to nap 2-3 hours each time but she has been fussing every 30 minutes or so now. When I fed her she will pull away after a few suckle too. I wonder if she is in pain?

I don’t know if this is good news or bad news but I’ll prefer her to have her teeth later.

Darrius has his when he was almost 7 months old if I’m not wrong. He did not drool that much as compared to Glennedine. So, I wonder do girls have their teeth sooner than boys?

Emily had her 2 front teeth at 3 months too. At 2nd month, already can spot the white teeth in her gums. However, teething young is not a good thing coz it means loosing it fast too.

  2. My 4 month old boy also started drooling at 10 weeks. He’s a biter when I nurse him now. However, no signs of the pearl yet.

Read somewhere that though sometimes the symptoms appears early, the 1st sight of the tooth might be as late as 9th month.

Of absolutely no relation to the topic of your post, I just HAD to say that Glennedine looks like Darrius kor kor in that photo!!!!!!!! Very cute!!!!

  4. Teething later is better coz the baby can have strong tooth but no worry lah, each baby have different milestone.

I also started drooling from about 2 months….but of course, so did my brother and it was due to our tongue-tiedness, but that is another story altogether..-P

Hey, Alisa is going through the exact same situation too!

In my case, I thought her diarrhea is due to:

    a) Enfalac HA not suitable for her (since she’s 90% on breastmilk)

    b) dirty drinking bottles at home (rolls eyes).

But she’s been drooling, sucking on her fists, crying and very cranky at bedtime too. OMG, Lucas started teething at 5 months but teething at 3 months???

I’ve been *so busy* no time to read up on baby updates. Thanks for this post!
