Books are the inspiration
I was so tired yesterday that I went to bed so early (10pm) and I woke up early too! I was already tossing and turning around 3am and decided to come down around 5am. Before I go back to catch a few more winks I’ll just do this back dated post…
Ok, most of you must be wondering why Darrius has been bugging me that he wants to go to school right? Well, he don’t really know what is ‘going to school’ except knowing that there will be plenty of toys to play. One thing I must iterate is that when he starts to play, he won’t want to do anything else. If you tell him to stop playing, he will scream at the top of his lungs and will starts to throw whatever he is holding. He will be one fierce little monster.
So, I have been trying my best to train him to behave and control his temper. As he has never leave my/our sides before and going to a place without me or his daddy will be an entirely new and unfound experience. I’m not sure if he is ready to leave his comfort zone as yet but I know one day he will have to…
Last week, we went to that crazy Popular Book sale @ Midlands Park. It was the first day so only opened to members. We went quite late since it was a weekday and we have to wait for PiggyBeng to be back and also to wait for the after school traffic to ease first. When we arrived it was already 7.30pm and the entire place was stuffed with people with basket loads!
All the books were all mixed up so we have to rumble through from all the different sections. It was amazing as a lot of good and quality books are going off @ 90% off for members! Of course we don’t want to ‘jap-shue’ (don’t want to lose out) and grabbed a basket full. And we have to wait in line more than an hour just to pay! o_O
And these are the ‘inspiration’ that made Darrius want to go to school as I told him I will use these books to teach him when he goes to school/he has to bring the books to school… (ok, some white lies…)

The above are only some of the books we bought as there just too many! Some of these books are really good quality ones and we only paid a few Ringgit for each after 90% discount. I especially likes those in image #2 as we can write on the page and erase it. So they are a good activities books that can be reused over and over again.
Besides indulging in books for Darrius, I also found some very good bargains. While PiggyBeng was queing up, I found some of Mrs Fong (a Hong Kong celebrity chef) VCD @ 90% off too! Imagine I only paid RM1.50 for each of these VCDs!

So, now you know what ‘inspired’ Darrius to go to school?
He just wanted to vandalize his books so he kept bugging me that he wants to go to school so he can write/scribble on those books which I told him are for used in school.
To be honest, Darrius might be very eager to go to school now but I can anticipate when he actually needs to go to school (like waking up early every day) he will starts giving me excuses like why he can’t go to school! I’m sure most of you know what I meant!
Btw, the sale will last till end of this month I think so you can still try your luck to find some good deals.

So THOSE BOOKS were the reasons eh??!! *wink*
Hmmmm…. is drawing with crayons on white pieces of paper a common everyday activity already? cos’ its a way to ’subconsciously’ tell him that drawing and scribbling are only on WHITE PLAIN papers…. (ok that’s half-truth), that’s what I did to my boys… so they had never mess up books that have pictures or words printed on them….
wow, those books were cheap, worthwhile to wait for an hour to just pay!

Goodlah you can teach Darrius Chinese and English
I find that reading to Lucas one book that he chooses quietens him down for the night. And I second what Angeline says above – make firm rules that ONLY white paper can be drawn in.
Lucas drew a few of his books too earlier but now when he looks at them, he’ll go, “Oh dear, who draw on the books? See…so messy.”
I’ll echo him, “Who drew on the books?”
He’ll quietly answer, “Lucas!” and then quickly say, “Next time cannot draw on books! Only draw on paper…”
Hahaha the criminal’s confession!
