Little cousins met again

Published by Angeleyes under Weekends, Family

Before our kitchen disaster on Sunday, we were out in the morning to attend my MIL’s temple official opening ceremony in the city. We were invited for the buffet lunch together with some of PiggyBeng’s relatives.

When we arrived, we saw one of Darrius’s twins cousin brother who was there with his grandmother. It has been quite sometimes we met him as every CNY we will missed them since we are away in Ipoh.

Dawson is the elder twin whom is staying with his grandmother in Penang while his younger brother in Bukit Mertajam with his parents. Initially when we saw Dawson, he was very shy but my Darrius was extremely friendly and went over and asked him to play together. He did not warm up until after more than 20 minutes.

We were ushered to the upper floor of the building for lunch and we sat at different table. Not long after we sat down, Dawson came over and asked to play with Darrius. The two little fellas did not talk but only using body language as there was language barrier! Dawson only speaks Mandarin and Darrius, English! So it is chicken and duck talk!

It is always so fun and heart warming to see the little ones playing together even they hardly meet or don’t speak the same language!

He almost burn the house down!

Published by Angeleyes under Rants, Weekends, PJT-A, Family, Events

Yesterday was pretty warm after the afternoon rain so PiggyBeng decided to switch on the a/c in the living room and watch some movies. Before he closed the door between the living room and the dining room, he went to light up the burner and heat up the soup in the pressure cooker. He apparently put on ‘high’ heat as he thought he wanted to let it boil faster.

He then walked into the living room and lie down on the sofa watching the movie with us. He did not tell me he was heating up the soup. The volume from our home theater system was pretty loud so we can’t hear anything except the sound from the movie.

After almost an hour (I think) or at least 45 minutes, I smelt burnt smell coming to the living room. I turned to PiggyBeng who was almost half asleep lying down on the sofa if he was cooking something? He jumped up! And I was like…. OH NO!!!!!!

We ran to the kitchen and there were smoke filling part of the room! The pressure cooker were emitting black smoke! PiggyBeng quickly switch off the burner and release the pressure cooker’s valve and let all the pressure out’ The entire house smelt of burning smell which really yucky… given my current condition when my nose is extra sensitive.

First thing PiggyBeng said was ‘Die! The rubber is gone!’ referring to the rubber on the pressure cooker’s cover. I don’t know what he did after that as he told me to leave and not to inhale the smoke which might be toxic. While I was opening up all the windows, our neighbour came over to ask methere was something burning so I told her what happened.

PiggyBeng spent almost an hour cleaning the pressure cooker from burnt corn on the cobs and peanuts. It was corn soup we had that day. Everything almost turn into charcoal remains except a few corn on the cobs. I did not get to snap a pic… which I should to remind PiggyBeng of his carelessness!!!!!

It was only a few days ago I was talking about PiggyBeng boiling soup and we have this accident. I was glad the pressure cooker did not explode though we have heard of many of such stories. The pressure cooker did not have any damage except a blacken bottom inside and a burnt valve cap from the smoke/steam. I must say kudos to Tefal for creating such a good pot with admirable technology.

One thing after this incident, I am having qualm’s with PiggyBeng’s kitchen attitude! Obviously he’s getting old!!! I told him I will either get him a timer to hang around his neck or tie one of those cardboard displays around his neck so he would not forget he’s cooking something!

Taste buds gone hay-wired!

Published by Angeleyes under PJT-A, Health

The last few days my appetite was in a limbo… one day I feel so hungry and could eat almost anything and the next I felt so dreadful. Anything that went in felt like tree bark… some even caused me to almost throw up! Yucks!

Food that used to taste so good but taste horrid now. At one point I need to have my asam laksa fix every day but now the smell of it will make me want to puke. So weird!!! Two days ago I had Milo and that was almost fatal! My entire mouth felt so strange after I finished the whole cup.

Just now PiggyBeng bought me a packet of nasi lemak as I was craving for it last night. While I was enjoying it, it was still ok but once I’m done, the after taste made me fell like puking again! I think my taste buds has gone totally hay-wired! I don’t think I ever need any  natural appetite suppressant when this happen!

Some pillows and bolsters talk

Published by Angeleyes under Juz Darrius, Funnies

Every night without fail, we will start some pillows and bolsters talk with Darrius when all of us are in the room in preparing for the baby’s arrival. After the first few nights talking about who sleeps where, now we asked about sharing of other ‘beloved’ items.

I have blogged about Darrius and his blue bolsters here and here which is one of his ‘beloved’ items when he goes to sleep. Though he can sleep without them when he is out an about during the day but he will look for them at night. More like a ‘bao-bei’ to him.

Last night we started the talk…

.

Me: Darrius, when baby comes out, can share these bolsters with baby or not? (pointing to his beloved blue bolsters)

Darrius: *shook head* Cannot!

Me: Why??? You have two mah, let baby have one.

Darrius: *shook head* These are Darrius’s one.

Me: Then can baby have your big bolster? (the other bolster which he took from me)

Darrius: Cannot!

Me: Then which bolster is for baby?

Darrius: This one (pointing to a medium one which he don’t really like) is for baby.

Me: Why this one leh?

Darrius: This one is for baby. I don’t like this one.

Me: o_O

.

This boy ah… very protective over his stuff…

Later I want to tease him about his toys… see what he will say… hehehehe *evil grin*

Kaya Butter?

Published by Angeleyes under Bleh~, My Prince

You see, I’m half a Cantonese so boiling soup is one of my expertise. Ever since I married to PiggyBeng, I taught him to boil soup the Cantonese way too. PiggyBeng loves drinking soup but he is a very greedy person… he will add a lot of water to his soup so he can drink more bowls. Well, we all know that by adding more water with the same amount of ingredients, the taste will be bland…. more like drinking water than soup…

Another thing is, PiggyBeng often add in the wrong ingredients as he cannot remember what goes with what so conveniently he will dump in whatever he could find. Sometimes his soup taste wierd… :P

When I told PiggyBeng his soup ‘tak sedap’ (don’t taste good) he don’t believe me. He will tell me he already put in all the ingredients. You know we have a 10L pressure cooker? Well, PiggyBeng will boil at least 7L of soup on Saturday and finished the whole pot with him drinking most of them. So, to prove to him, I asked one other person who is drinking the soup…. Darrius of course!

.

Me: Darrius, whose soup is better? Daddy’s or mommy’s?

Darrius: Mommy’s.

Me: Mommy’s soup sweet rite?

Darrius: *Nod*

Me: Daddy’s soup leh?

Darrius: Not sweet one.

.

Today I boiled some Old Yellow Cucumber Soup and I actually added extra dates so the soup was exceptionally sweet and tasty. When PiggyBeng came home I told him about what Darrius said about his soup so he went to ask Darrius.

.

PiggyBeng: Boi, daddy’s soup not nice meh?

Darrius: *shook head*

PiggyBeng: Why??

Darrius: Not sweet.

Me: *giggles*

.

You know what PiggyBeng said? He said Darrius tried to ‘pong-tai-keuk’ or ‘kaya-butter’ me wor…. You think so?

Funny bedtime conversation

Published by Angeleyes under Juz Darrius, Funnies

The past few nights I have been sleeping early. This means, I went to the room together with Darrius and we spent some time playing, reading and chatting before I tuck him in. I hardly do these before I discovered about my pregnancy as I need to clear some work each night before I sleep so normally PiggyBeng will tuck Darrius in.

Since I am pregnant, I decided to talk about the ‘baby’ with Darrius in the hope to prepare him for the baby’s arrival. here are some funny conversation we had…

.

Conversation 1

Me: Boy, when baby comes out, baby will sleep with mommy. Ok or not?

Darrius: (Shook his head)

Me: Why?

Darrius: Baby sleeps here (pointing to his bead) and Darrius sleeps with mommy.

.

Conversation 2

Me: Boy, why you always comes to mommy’s bed?

Darrius: I want to sleep with mommy mah (snuggles up to me)

Me: You have your own bed mah, you sleep on your own bed.

Darrius: I only want to sleep with mommy.

Me: Mommy sleeps with daddy mah and Darrius sleep on your own bed.

Darrius: No, Darrius sleeps with mommy and daddy sleeps on Darrius’s bed.

.

The whole point was, he still wants to sleep with me though we have been training him all these while to be independent and to sleep on his own. According to PiggyBeng, Darrius must sleeps next to either one of us as he needs to feel us next to him… sense of security perhaps? Every night I have to carry him down to his own bed at least 2 times without fail as he will creep up to me after a few hours. :|

Stuffing myself silly

Published by Angeleyes under PJT-A, Health

Ever since I discovered about my pregnancy, I have been stuffing myself silly with what ever food that comes to mind. I have a feeling my morning sickness will be kicking in soon as I already feel nausea at some parts of the day the past few days. So it is just a matter of time.

PiggyBeng has been complaining that I am already putting on extra weight though Little Bun is just a DOT! Well, with my previous experience, I know I will have really bad morning sickness as what ever that goes in will comes out in no time. I lost almost 10kg so I better put on some before I lose them! hehhee All these puking business is definitely more effective than any weight loss pills!

Heart beats in my tummy…

Published by Angeleyes under Celebration, Blogging, Health, Family

I was working so hard last week that I did not noticed how tired I was until last Sunday when I finally get to sit down and rest after my last order on last Saturday. I have to reject a few orders too as I knew I could not cope.

On Sunday I was trying to catch up on some of my other work online. There are still plenty of posts waiting in queue so I have to sort all the photos out and label them before posting them up. I have so much back logs in my cupcake blog and recipes blog! I wonder when can I finish posting them???! :P

Well, did you have a good Easter Sunday? Though I am not a Catholic/Christian this particular Easter is especially special to me/us. On this Easter, we received one of the news we have been waiting for the last 2 years…

All on vacation

Published by Angeleyes under PJT-A

My parents just got back from Beijing a couple of days ago while my MIL is still in Huang-Shan and she’s coming back tomorrow. Apparently this is one of the best time to visit some of the northern countries as the weather is pretty nice… cooling… before the hot sun comes burn the soil!

We had intented to visit US again this year but due to some other commitments we have to KIV the plan. Luckily we did not make any booking with Westgate yet. Well, hopefully we will get to go another time!
