My lil’ Laksa Boy
If you must know, to be a true Penang Kia (Penang born), one has to be able to take spicy food (according to PiggyBeng lar). PiggyBeng loves spicy food (and that’s why I always have to eat curry fishhead almost every weekend!) so I have slowly adapted to the life in Penang by taking more and more spicy food.
When Darrius was still on porridge, we often cook loads of spicy food since Darrius don’t share our meals but as he grows, he started to sit on the table with us sharing what ever we have. I have a hard time cooking non-spicy food then.
Therefore, we have been trying to train the lil’ monster to start taking his chili and spices! And we are proud that he is starting to like spicy food too.
About two weeks back, we bought some Asam Laksa after our shopping trip. I bought an extra packet since Darrius has been asking for some a couples of time when ever we had laksa. This time, I gave him the whole packet and let him eat by himself…
.
.
He surprised me by finishing the entire packet on his own!
Next on the list is to train him to eat Nasi Lemak which is another of my all time favorite. Once he can take that means I’ll have extra kakis to go for Nasi Lemak time!

My kids still cannot take spicy food. If they accidentally eat anything a little spicy, their face turn red and they jump around like monkey.

I am also very surprise that he can finish all but this particular laksa store soup is not overly spicy so still manageable. Darrius actually likes the noodles and the pineapple very much.
Welcome him to the laksa club. Did he drink water along the way?
That’s good, then no need to specially cater for him when cooking or eating out. We started YY on spicy food too, and she can handle mild spiciness now.
hou yeh wor! yeah, train him on nasi lemak..hehe
