My *Lil’ Michael Owen*?

Published by Angeleyes under Weekends, Family, Around Penang

Last weekend I was home bound as I have cupcake orders back to back. That means, poor Darrius had to stay home too since PiggyBeng was lazy to go out in the hot weather.

Only on Sunday morning  did Sue brought her Ian over to collect the stroller that Darrius get to play for a while. Poor lil Ian’s foot was still in cast so he was home bound too.

My customer was supposed to come collect her cupcakes around 5pm but there was so miscommunication with her relative who was supposed to come on behalf but she won’t be coming early. Then we decided to bring Darrius out to Esplanade to fly kite and play some mini soccer.

There was pretty strong wind so PiggyBeng wanted to fly the kite but Darrius being so impatient that I have to drag him away. I told PiggyBeng I’ll let the lil fella play with the ball instead.

And boy was he happy! :)

I told him to step on the ball and put his hands on his waist but he kept falling off so only managed to stand this way… :P

And here Lil’ Michael Owen in action…

In just a few minutes before Darrius thoroughly enjoy his lil game the sky suddenly turned grey filled with rain clouds! The wind was getting so strong that sands started to fly into our eyes. We decided to leave before the rain comes…

Now if I ask Darrius if he wants to fly the kite or play with the ball, he will choose the ball! :P

Why Michael Owen? Coz mommy don’t like David Beckham! :P

Tiger park???

Published by Angeleyes under Bleh~

Have you heard of the recent ‘joke’ here? We might going to have a Tiger Park leh! Yeah, a Tiger Park in Penang! Can you believe that??? I still wonder what has tigers got to do with Penang in the first place???

Well, we always get funny ideas up here don’t we?

The Tiger Park may not materialize since quite a large group of people are opposing to the idea. I mean, what can the park do??? If you have noticed, the Crocodile Farm already folded up eons ago. Not many of us like seeing fierce animals I guess… :P The only surviving is the Aquarium and Butterfly Farm.

If they want to open up a Tiger Park, might as well they open up a zoo right? They should do something like San Diego Zoo in California which come complete with Sea World. Like they have a San Diego hotel so tourists can even spend the night near to the zoo vicinity. Can our Penang do that?

Something to ponder upon…

Where are all the sales?

Published by Angeleyes under Bleh~, PJT-A

I thought the economy is bad but surprisingly there aren’t any sales that worth going at all. To me all the sales are just like the normal ones that has been on going even before the economy crisis. And blur me thought that if I wait, better sales will come… unfortunately nothing like that sort is happening… well, in Penang that’s it!

Last Friday while we was in Gurney Plaza, I went to Parkson to check on that ‘Kitchen Maid’ which I have been eyeing on but I git a shock when I see the price. It has not gone done but has increased! By almost RM300 some more! The only thing is, it comes with blender now. PiggyBeng thought that paying RM2800 for a mixer is TOTALLY MADNESS!

He said for that kind of price, what kind of cupcakes can I come out with? Magic Cupcakes? Eat liao can fly one issit?

Well, since he won’t let me have my dream mixer, I suggest to him to get me a laptop since he said we should have wimax in our home soon. Told he that the latest model of Pink Sony Vaio suits me damn well! :P Guess what his reply? :P

Weekends and etc…

I think I have been too caught up with my cupcake blog theme and header that I have kind of neglected this blog. There are tones of back dated posts but I still can’t really find the time to catch up as I have yet to go look for the photos which PiggyBeng has downloaded in the PC in our room.

Just want to jot down what we have been doing the past two weekends where I do not have that many cupcake orders to fuss over. On 14th March, we went to our very first Food Festival/Battle Of The Chefs which was held in PISA together with the FooDex - Food Exhibition. It was their 12th year running.

We went at 9 am as we worried that we might not be able to find a good parking lot. True enough, we have to park far away even when we reached PISA before 9.30 am! Only later did I found out that some of the events start as early as 9am. Well, for one thing, I missed the patisserie event which I hoped to catch. We have to pay RM3 to enter the event hall.

And I must say bad luck was looming over me that day as my camera batteries died-ed on me!!! Walked back to the car to get spares but only to discover there were none! Luckily managed to snap a few before it was auto shut-off. What a bummer! :( And here are the only few shots I had…

Banana for Monkeys only?

Published by Angeleyes under My Prince, Funnies

On either Thursday or Friday each week, my MIL will buy some fruits to offer to the ‘Tua Pek Kong’ behind our house. MIL said the ‘Tua Pek Kong’ helps her with her business as well as blessing the whole family. Most of the time she will buy either bananas or oranges for the offering. After which she will brings back and eats them.

Today it was no difference. She bought a bunch of bananas.

After the prayer, MIL brought it back and ate some while walking out to the living room. Then I heard she offered to Darrius, who was playing in the living room at that time.

Here is the conversation that I over heard…

.

MIL: Darrius, you want to eat banana?

Darrius: No! For Monkeys!

MIL: Har? Lu kong ha mi? (Huh? What did you say? - in Hokkien)

Darrius: Banana for monkeys only. You eat banana, you monkey!

MIL: (Burst out laughing)

.

MIL then called out to me and asked me if I heard what Darrius just said and I also can’t stopped laughing… :P

Ok, I did not teach him this… I don’t know where he learned it from. o_O

I Love Cupcakes has a new Header!

Published by Angeleyes under Blogging, Misc

After my previous ‘furore’ with some aksi-web designer, someone came to my rescue. I must thank Wendy again for introducing her SIL, Cherry to me and I finally got what I am looking for. Too bad she don’t do theme designing so I just have to be contented with a new header for now. I will go hunt for a theme designer later.

I am pretty happy with the result. There were some changes from the first draft and within the last few hours she made all the changes for me and I think the header fits pretty well. If you would like to see, hop over to I Love Cupcakes! now. :)

So, for those of you who are looking for someone to do up a nice header for your blog(s), do let me or Wendy know. Cherry’s charges is quite reasonable and she is excellent to work with! :)

On a writing spree

Published by Angeleyes under Milestone, Juz Darrius

Knowing that I am such a lazy mommy, I must confess that I seldom spend much one-to-one time with Darrius except for the normal stuff like feeding him and bathing him (I hardly read to him these days). Most of the time he will be on his own either playing by himself or watching his DVDs while I busied myself with my blogging work. Ok, I am feeling guilty… :P

Anyhow, this little monster of mine is quite independent now. Beside knowing how to talk back to me, he can do a host of stuff all by himself. I give credit to all the DVDs and VCDs he watches. Honestly, I find that kids can learn a whole lot if we know how to qualify good and positive quality educational programs to be used as a learning tool.

I swear I hardly teach him how to write, I only taught him how to hold a pencil! And yet he can give me something like these…

The above activity book was given by Constance last week and the next day I found all the scribbles in the book. I was quite amazed! His writing ability has definitely surpass my expectation! It never cross my mind that he can write so well! Well, for someone his age and one who has never attended school before… I only bought one link-the-dot book for him a few months back but he only drew circles in that book but never do any writing in it so i was very surprise with the discovery.

Since there are limited boxes he can write in that activity book, I decided to get him an exercise book last weekend when we were in Popular. Once we reached home, he wrote all these…

.

The strokes are not perfect but the characters are very clear! He knows his ABC very well so he can recognize them even if I ask him randomly and able to answer me without much thinking.

Remember that few Sesame Street VCDs that I bought for him earlier? I think these are some of the best investment I’ve made thus far! They really helps Darrius learn with ease!

Chicky Meal comes with Chicky Club

Published by Angeleyes under sLurP!, Blogging, Misc

It’s Monday again and like all of those who has to start work today, I am feeling the blues too…  :P And to cheer myself up, I went for my KFC fix.

Compared to McD, I still prefer KFC as I am not a burger person (unless I’m having  In’N'Out then that’s different) since the burgers here sucks… especially those sold in fast food chains… too dry and most lack the oooommmppphhh factor for sure. Since I patronise KFC so often (at least twice a month), I thought I might as well register for their Chicky Club for Darrius as he will definitely eat with me.

While I was mplacing my order, I asked for the form. Then I asked the lady who was serving me the cost for joining and she told me RM3. I paid for my meal and a Chicky meal for Darrius. After reading the form, I discovered that I could get the membership for free if I have purchased a Chicky Meal (apparently this year is the club’s 15th Anniversary).

.

.

I approached the counter staff again but she was ignorant about the free membership so she went to consult the Manager. After a few minutes, they got back to me and I got my card and ‘package’ with a free gift.

.

kfc1.JPG

.

The free gift is from Nestle and will be given if your kids provide their email addresses in the form. What Darrius got today was a chocolate bar. As for the ‘package’, there are some discount voucher booklet attached. Not bad lar… since it is FREE. :P Another thing I noticed is that the card do not have an expiry date…

Guess who we met up with this time?

Published by Angeleyes under Blogging

This week both Malaysia and Singapore are having their mid year term break so the kids on both countries are having a week of holiday. Well, it has nothing to do with of course since Darrius is not attending school yet.

I’ll have to say this time I finally met one really nice lady and her 2 princesses. If you are a regular reader of this site and this site or this yummy site, you’ll know whom I am talking about. She is a very talented lady and she happens to be my ’senior’ in university just that we never met!

Since she was busy with lots of family stuff during the day, we only managed to meet up on the second night which was last Wednesday. Sue was so kind to drive us there as the place we were supposed to meet (Pulau Tikus) always has lack of parking lots.

.

metwithconstance.JPG

.

Look at Sue’s son, Ian… he is such a handsome boy! And behind Darrius is Rae and the one next to Darrius is Lea. Lea has a lovely lock of hair neatly tied up like Rapunzel!  Rae was a very chatty little girl and the boys were having so much fun with the girls in the early half of the meet but went running about after a while. Darrius was the most notorious of the lot! :| There was another lady who joined us at the later part but she is not a blogger and I forgot to snap a photo! She has a very cute baby girl.

Can you see the Thomas books and water bottle? Pressies from dear Constance to Darrius. Darrius was so excited with them and I’ll post in my next post what he has done…

Constance, thanks for meeting up and thanks a lot for the pressies you got for Darrius and those cute cuppies you helped me get! :)

Sharing on I Love Cupcakes!

Published by Angeleyes under Others, Blogging

A couple of weeks ago, author of Mompreneur Asia, Moon asked me if I would like to share about my little cupcake business to other aspiring mompreneurs out there. I was delighted to be given such opportunity. I know my cupcakes are nothing unusual but being a mom who has to balance between family life and running a business is something worth sharing.

If you are keen to read, do hop over to Moon’s site.
