Winter Solstice – Eat ‘Tang Yuen’ Day
Can’t believe it that it is another Winter Solstice festival again! Both PiggyBeng and myself don’t really like sweet stuff so we never really bother about eating glutinous rice balls or commonly known as ‘tang-yuen’ during this particular day. I’m not going into details again about why we have to eat ‘tang-yuen’ as I know a lot of other bloggers had blogged about it.
MIL still do prayer for the festival so we get to eat those that she bought (previous years) but this year a relative helped her to rolled some using sweet potatoes. And we get to taste them after the praying session…

And just for fun I added these…

This is the first time I let Darrius ate them but that lil monkey only interested in the sweet sugar water! Well, actually our relative made some very nice sweetened soup to go with these ‘tang-yuen’. He boiled chrysanthemum with some ginseng so it tasted really nice… especially after our heavy pork ribs lunch prepared by Chef PiggyBeng!
Well, I hope all of you have a fun day eating these sweet and colorful balls!

Oh darn! We missed it! Partly because the big snow storm that weekend just took our minds away from everything, and partly because we in USA are just not surrounded by Chinese stuffs that’ll remind us of these occasions.
