Bento Fun #37

Initially I was lazy to fix any Bento yesterday but I still have lots of vege so I have to cook them off or they will rot soon. They are taking up space in our tiny fridge too. Then I wanted to steam some Kurau fillets but discovered I have used up all the ginger and forgot to replenish! No choice I have to steam them with those bottle sauces… but they are a little spicy for Darrius.

Therefore, I decided to fix him some ’siew-ngor’ (roasted goose) sushi with the left over vegetarian roasted goose that my MIL brought back. And I stir-fried some vegetable medley with all the vege stock I have in the fridge. To make the Bento look cute, I boiled some quail eggs. I made 3 but one turned out a rotten egg! *bleah~*

Darrius ate a lot yesterday and he was more like half full when I served him his Bento but he was happy to see all the cute things especially the chicks… He gobbled the chicks the moment I placed his Bento onto his food tray. Next, he attacked the ’siew-ngor’ which is his favorite among all the vegetarian dishes.

However, he has a little problem eating the sushi rice and they all broken up (I cooked with normal rice as I did not buy the Calrose rice yet). Then he refused to eat the mushrooms… which were cut in quarters. If I really want him to eat I have to cut them small and feed him.

I served him some fish in a separate dish which was not in the photo as I have to break the fish meat up to check for bones.

Nevertheless, my little supporter still give me the thumb-up for the cute looking Bento. At the end, he messed up all the sushi by eating all the nori (seaweed) but left the rice falling everywhere on his tray. *slapped forehead*

    Amah,
Actually the molds don;t really help much except they gave me some guides where to draw… hehehe I ordered the nori cutter and when it arrives, I will not need the molds anymore as they don’t serve much purpose unless I dye the eggs so can see the lines/prints from the molds.
