Bento Fun #29
Finally after almost two weeks of bland food, we are finally returning to some decent cooking of fancier food to pump up our appetite.
This is yesterday Bento which I did for lunch. PiggyBeng is away in Vietnam and won’t be returning till Thursday night so I won’t be doing a lot of cooking so I did some extras for the next few days. Will be eating out most of the time with my MIL but just want to make sure Darrius gets his more nutritional meals… at least once a day.
Molded and painted quail eggs on celery sticks, cheese cubes on both sides and nori pork ballson a bed of sweet peas

I received my quail egg molds more than a week ago but did not get to use them since all of us were coughing badly so tried avoid taking eggs or poultry products. Now that we are feeling better, I just can’t wait to try them out.

I find the molds are a little too big for the quail eggs and they did not fit entirely into the ‘hole’ and the prints are quite light so kind of hard to see. Therefore, I have to paint them with the food writer since I do not have those ‘face’ nori cutters.
While Darrius busy munching away, I quickly snap a pic of him so that I can see what is his ‘fav’ food. If you notice, the cheese cubes will always be the one that goes first.

The cute quail eggs were his next target as he gobbled them down in no time! He took his time to enjoy the meat balls and the only thing that left behind… the celery sticks…. 
Funny thing is, he will eat his celery when I cut them into smaller pieces but he will avoid at all cost when I serve him in bigger chunks. No way he will take them raw.
This Bento also reminded me to go get some lettuce so I can ‘beautify’ the Bento a little and not so empty. Recently all the lettuce in Tesco looked so old and ‘aged’ so that was why I did not buy any.

so good, Darrius not the fussy eater. Not like my boys, even cheese cube they also don like to eat.

I saw that quial eggs mould last night at 100 yen shop in ss2!! hahahah next time i know where to get it from lo!

hahaa, my problem is the quail eggsa bit bigger than the mould ler!
Gee…I hope that I can prepare eggs for my kids, but they just don’t eat eggs! Me loh, scare they allergy last time, so now they hate it.
Nice bento, so well presented and proportionate. The food marker really makes a difference to the quail eggs. And so syiok, the way Darius eats.
I have the same problem as Chooi Peng, half the the quail eggs in the pack are too big for the mould. I think you’ve been shortchanged, or you can add another grouse about Penang -smaller quail eggs than KL…. hehe….
It was quite upsetting to see the quail egg mould being sold in 100 yen shop, in addition to the bear/rabbit and fish/car egg moulds, at RM4.90! I bought mine from ebay 3 months ago, at a premium. Aiyah!!

haiyoh,, i saw the quail egg mould at 100 yen too at RM4.90. very heart sick lor. i bought from ebay leh. sometime in April (although I blog about it much later) so expensive over at ebay ! But never mind lar. already use kau pun already.

Hai~ Don’t remind me… I bought from e-bay too though not at premium but still costing 3x more than 100 yen. Since we don’t have 100 Yen here so still ok… if not sure I go knock my head at the wall!
At least Darrius wanna take his celery. If Mei Mei take, no matter how small, I also cut. LOL.

Hahaha! I know what you mean… sometimes I also have a hard time forcing Darrius to eat certain vege but if I feed him, I don’t care and just stuff everything in! He busy with his TV so he will blur-blur eat… good eh?
Hi! Can i know how u paint on the quail egg? so cute… Using the sauce pen? I have one too… But not sure as what kind of sauce to use? As yours got black, green & red colour… So creative…
