To celebrate the country’s 51th years of independence, there’s 30% off all mooncakes (a box of 4 pcs) from Tai Thong @ all Sunshine outlets till 1st September… so hurry!

The previous years we only get maximum of 20% off these mooncakes which are among the more popular brands. We got ours late last year so PiggyBeng did not managed to get the flavor he likes therefore we shop earlier for them this year. It is only 15 days to Mid Autumn Festival.

Tai Thong came out with a few new flavors this year and I bought 2 of them to try. One is the very Nyonya flavor, Sambal Shrimp and the other is Single Yolk with Multi Grains. I wanted to try more but after pondering on the amount of sugar and lard laden in them I think 2 is more than enough! After all, I’m not a mega fancee of mooncakes. Just eat for fun and the festive mood. PiggyBeng on the other hand prefer the Bacon Bits ones. We also bought some as gifts for my FIL and other relatives.

Nothing much to rave about the packaging for this year too. These few popular brands don’t have much fancy stuff as compared to those newer brands I supposed. Well, what matter most is the taste right?

Can’t wait to bring Darrius to some of the Mooncake parties organized by the community centres!

I bought a big piece of pumpkin and wanted to steam for Darrius to go with his rice and suddenly thought that I might as well try out my new onigiri molds which I bought from Jusco Bukit Tinggi. It has 4 different shapes; heart, triangle, star and cherry blossom. I mixed the steamed pumpkin with the rice without any seasoning (to save gas I actually placed the pumpkin in the rice cooker when it is about to cook). Incidentally, Darrius was watching his Sesame Street VCD on shapes and color… timing just nice!

Darrius enjoyed this Bento though he kept telling me the eyes and mouth on the Onigiri looked like Awujiak (ghost)…. hehehehe

After a tired day at the zoo, we have wanted to eat the all time Singaporeans’ favorite - Sri Lankan Pepper Crabs so I got the contact from my uncle’s wife to make reservation at one of the popular eatery in the East as they are always full house… even on weekdays! This restaurant’s food is not only tasty but their pricing is extremely reasonable! We have dined here many times in the past but only this time I got a chance to take photos! And guess what? The crabs are out of stock! What a bummer right? My mistake - I forgot to reserve the crabs when I make reservation…

The place, Jin Loong Seafood Restaurant is located in Bedok North Ave. Blk #416. It is inside a kopitiam below the HDB… so non-aircon. Since we did not get to eat the crabs, we ordered some of their other delicacies… They are famous for their crab dishes as well as the Nestum Prawns.

Since there were quite a number of us, we are still not full so upon seeing some other diners ordering the chicken dish, we went ahead and ordered one too…

*sigh* It was not as good as it look…

Nevertheless, it was a good meal overall and have to thank my buddy for footing the bill! Board and meals…. So pai seh!

Darrius woke up at 6.45am on Wednesday, therefore he goes hungry before 10am! He kept bugging me for food even though he has his 8oz of milk and 8oz of Milo! o_O No choice lor… I have to quickly fix him something to eat as I don’t intend to cook lunch that early. With my balance half loaf of bread, I made these for him…

Recently I have just heard too much of cases of wrongful deaths especially those of road accidents. Do you know that it so unsafe these days just to walk on the street? I can’t believe it that walking on the pedestrian lane could also ended up in fatal accident. There are just too many reckless drivers out there!

I really pity the victims or their family members as such cases are often open ended and can be draggy when they are brought to court to seek compensation. Most often or not, these cases are left unheard after a while.

Unlike the residents in Nebraska, they are luckier. At least they can seek help from the Omaha Personal Injury Lawyers to get their cases going. Sometimes the compensation may not be a lot but it does helps the victims and their family to cope with the loses as well as bringing the case to a closure and get on with life.

Initially I was lazy to cook since PiggyBeng is not at home. No point cooking if just for myself and Darrius… for one meal. Then I remembered I bought a loaf of bread the day before so might as well finish it while it is still fresh.

Then I opened up my new cutters which I bought last year meant for making cookies…. Also finally got a chance to use my Lock-Lock box bought last year which I was keeping for Darrius to use when we eat out since his old bowl with a suction cup already gone k-o.

This is only for make-explore as I have some edible color markers to play with. Too bad the desired results did not turn out but at least I have a cute Bento here!

p/s: Darrius is more keen in the yogurt than the Bento this round! 

The heat is on and the damage is deep!!!!

My order from local an on-line store has finally arrived… after waiting for more than 1.5 months. Why so long you may ask… well, I ordered quite a numbers of pre-order stuff so I told the store owner to send to me when she has all the stuff. Too bad, one of the items refused to come and thus we waited for so long. Finally I have to cancel that and replaced with another item.

And here are my latest indulgence….

That day while we were at Mac Donald’s Green Lane, I casually asked Darrius if he would want to attend the school (Trinity Methodist Church) opposite? He nodded his head. The thing is, he impression of school is a place where he gets to play all the toys and ride all the kiddies mobiles so he is very eager to ‘attend’ school.

Just a while ago he came to me after he finished his milk and I said his diaper very smelly and asked him to take it off. Then I went on to say, how to go to school when he is still wearing diaper? He asked me “going to that Mac Donald’s school?” as he remembered we spoke about that the other day.

This is an example of one of those ‘going to school’ prep session I have been having with Darrius.

Here is the conversation…

Me: Oh! You remembered har?

Darrius: *nodded his head* Yeah. The school at Mac Donald’s.

Me: You want to go to that school? You have to be 3 years old first then mommy send you to school. But you cannot wear diaper to school wor. You must know how to shee-shee by yourself and cannot wear diaper when you sleep in the school.

Darrius: *look at mommy with huge eyes* Must shee-shee by myself hor?

Me: Yeah. So, you must wake up when you want to shee-shee if not later you will wet the bed sheet. How?

Darrius: Wet the bear-bear bed sheet ah?

Me: No. Bear-bear bed sheet is at home mah. School has their own bed sheet.

Darrius: Then bring bear-bear bed sheet to school okay?

Me: No! You cannot bring bear-bear bed sheet to school! Bear-bear bed sheet is at home cannot bring to school.

Aiyoh, this boy ah! He thinks by bringing his own bed sheet he can pee when he sleeps! *slap forehead*
