Flat screen LCD or tube?
I did not blog about our TV died on us sometimes back here but I did made one post in my travel blog. The old Sony 34″ tube TV has served PiggyBeng’s household for more than 10 years and with the recent ‘user’ it finally breathed it last breath… or die a natural death. Yeah, I am sad to say the latest user is my dear son and with his recent habit of kept changing the channels, the TV could not take it anymore.
Currently we are relaying on our old 21″ which we used to put in our room. Also because of Darrius, we hardly switch that one on since Darrius loves to press on the ON/OFF button.
We have been scouting for a new TV and the question now is, should we get a Flat Screen LCD or just get another 29″ tube TV? The pricing for quite a few top models of Flat Screen LCD TVs have dropped so much in the past few months and PiggyBeng is so tempted to get one. He is already eying the SHARP one which is priced quite reasonably.
Now, I don’t mind having a Flat Screen LCD but should we spend so much since we don’t watch TV that often? I think the person who used the TV most is no other than Darrius. My MIL only watch the 4.30pm Hokkien drama and I will normally catch the 5 or 6pm MediaCorp or TVB dramas if I have the time. Other than that I hardly have the time to watch since Darrius comes into my life.
Another reason is, we are in the process of ‘planning for a better future’ so spending on unnecessary pricey items will be a big NO-NO (though I can’t help spending on my hobby) as it might not be worthy able to bring all these items along. Even I’ve been yearning to get one of those discount massage chairs, I ended up killing the idea since I don’t see the point of moving something so bulky later on.
Well, we will need to get something this weekend or next but still very undecided on which to get. I don’t mind going for a normal 29″ tube but PiggyBeng is very keen to get a 32″ Flat Screen LCD. For me, I would rather get a 42″ one when we moved into our own home.
So how ah???
