Lunar New Year 2008 – Part 1

Phew! Finally we are back to this little island and I forced myself to sort out all the photos and have them cleaned up so I could tell our exciting Lunar New Year celebration for year 2008. There were so much to do prior to the eve (cupcakes to bake, paid posts to be completed and 1001 thing to settle) and I was extremely lazy to do much with this blog.

This year our celebration was rather extraordinary. This is the first time my SIL and her family or rather her kids (her hubby seldom comes back) did not return for the celebration. Normally they will be back a few weeks before. Therefore, my MIL did not do much elaborate stuff (but I still consider elaborate). She cooked plenty of food (forgot to take photos) so she could make offerings to the ancestors and Gods on the afternoon of the eve.
We did not have any reunion dinner at home this year. Instead we had our very first reunion dinner at the hotel just the 3 of us without MIL. MIL went to another relative house for the occasion.

It was a buffet style dinner. The food were quite ok though we expected better but can’t ask for more since we don’t pay that much during this period. At RM65 Nett, we have sharks fins soup, Yee Sang for 2, Fresh prawns, Sea Cucumber, Promfret, Mini Pacific Abalones and a lot more stuff (too pai-seh to snap photos). The only set back was, all the food were HALAL so no SUCKLING PIG! :P Surprisingly, the hotel recorded a full house for the night. Guess more and more people are eating out now so they don’t have to slave at home to cook all the dishes for the entire family. My own family and relatives has been practicing dining out for more than 10 years as it can be chaotic to cook for 3 tables!

Darrius was having so much fun making a mess on the table, creating a scene (he started screaming when we refused to give him the glass) and chomping down 2 scoops of ice-cream!  We finished around 9pm and left to join m MIL and relative to have another round! They were having steamboat but we could barely eat any more as we were so full from the hotel food.
