Would you feed your kids this…
.
The other day when we were at Giant’s carpark, we saw a Malay couple with a toddler around Darrius’s age or even younger. What baffled me was, the kid has a lollypop sticking in his mouth! I mean, how could parents feed their kids with all these junks?
On another occasion, when PiggyBeng’s friend who came from Singapore (also happens to be a Malay) with his family, I saw his younger son was sucking a lollypop too. The father actually told us his young son’s teeth are all falling off! I could see his teeth are in bad shape… extreme decay with black spots on most teeth.
I know many of us will try to refrain from giving our kids anything that is sweet so their milk teeth can be preserved till their mature teeth come about. I can’t imagine seeing Darrius’s teeth start to rot before he turns 3!

Say NO TO Candy
i also try not to start bryan on sweet stuff. i don’t even give him fruit juices – rather he gets the fibre as well from eating fresh fruits. But sometimes he sips our frappucino!!!!!! ha ha
We give Belle lollipops whenever we go shopping. That’s the only way she will sit quietly in her stroller. But then again, we hardly go to the mall, so, it is like once in a blue moon kinda thing. The best way to preserve our kids teeth is brushing them at least twice a day.
I don’t give my kids when they are so young. Now that they are older, they have it only certain time, like birthday party or festive occasion.
XY got to eat more sweets after she turned 4. B4 that, I was quite strict with her. Up till today, her drinks (those that we make ourself like Milo n ribena) r still quite diluted.
sigh …I start to worry bout Calista teeth as she used to eat a lot of sweets when she’s under nanny care.
I do feed my 2 gals with lollis occassionally! Guess kids need sweet stuff in order to stay sweet!
Ethan doesn’t like sweet stuff – he only likes to hold the lolly
last time J doesn’t fancy sweet things. That day i turned around and saw him sucking on one. My sis or my hub is the culprit i forgot. But luckily he only suck it awhile and then he give throw it away. Too bored sucking and sucking maybe.. hahaha
yucks..i find it very very yuckie cause it’s wayyy too sweet!!! I don’t buy for my kids, but other junk food yes, oonce in a while
No lollies for Ian but I do give him some chocolate once a while. Can’t help it, he had his first taste at a birthday party..so what to do..just treat him once a while..haha
nope, i don’t feed brandon with those lolly either. he still doesn’t know how to ask for it. but yes, i’ve seen many other toddler, some younger than brandon, sucking on those lollies.
lets put it this way, with my first kid, everything has to be organic n ultra clean, and no junk food till she was like 5 years old. With my 2nd kid, sigh.. anything goes, as long as i get other more important things done, like getting Kimberly in time for her school and givng me an extra half an hour to coach Kimberly with her homework when its major fretting time etc. With one kid and not working from home rushing for datelines, it was a breeze for me to adopt those principles, as with my first born.
but end of the day, turn out my kids doesnt like junk food that much anyhow, its one two sucks and back to the maid.. a blessing in disguise for me.
Bryan doesn’t let us brush his teeth…so no sweets, no lolli, no chocolates…no no no…
Chloe gets a little sugar like candies and stuff each day.. but never like those “ang moh” kids here.. where they are given bags of candies.
We’ve been very successful until Christmas as Lucas got candy from the “ang mohs” and friendly Filipinos…there goes his ignorance about lollipops!
I won’t let Ashley eat any of these stuff too but my mum thinks I’m being too strict
I don’t care lah….Ashley can enjoy this when she grows up but definitely not now
scary… my family has history in diabetes so i’m very caution about sweets intake on myself and my kid. Luckily en en hates sweets!
