Still unwell

The Lil’ Kay-poh-chi is still having fever on and off even after we administered the suppository a few times. He was complaining of stomach pain in the middle of the night and around 2+am he actually ‘lau-saied‘ in his sleep! I have to wake him up to get him to change his soiled diaper. He was reluctant to wake up but I know he won’t feel comfortable if those poo-poo stick on his butts!

Around 7am he woke me up and told me he needs to do #2 so I brought him down to the potty but was a little late as he already poo-ed in his diaper. So after washing up, I fed him his milk and gave him some diarrhea medicine. Then he insisted he wants to go back to the room to sleep.

Hopefully the fever will subside soon as he refused to take in any oral medication. He threw all out last night and it was totally futile to get him to swallow even just a tiny bit. *sigh*

Today is Friday and guess with Darrius’s condition now we won’t be going any where today…

Oh dear! Hope Darrius is getting better. For lausai, I will give lactobacillus tablets to help cultivate some good bacteria in the tummy.

  9. Did the doc prescribe LF formula and lactobacillus liquid?

    Hope Darrius is feeling better.

hope Darrius has a speedy recovery… en en also got fever few days back and paed discovered ulcer/white spot in her mouth… suspected Coxsackie! But luckily no symptom on ahdns and foot… I had known a few moms in Penang told me they child was contracted Coxsackie. Got to monitor and take good care of our little one… less outing is good for temporarily.

  11. sigh…poor fella. hope he is feeling better now. can you hide the medicine in his milk? That’s what I did to Ashley. Oh wait..he’s having diarrhea…which means no milk eh? :(

  12. Angeleyes says:

Thanks all for the well wishes.

Darrius is still having slight fever and his diarrhea is not getting any where better. *sigh*

I guess I have to stop his milk intake for a while. The paed did not say if I should stop giving him any milk so I continued but since he is not getting any better I’ll have to stop for the time being.

And yeah, the paed also prescribed some lactobacillus so hopefully that will help.

Keeping my fingers crossed…. I felt so tired taking out and putting back his diapers/nappies every 15 mins! :(

Tuesday nite my boy (same age as Darrius) was down with fever too, then vomitted after food and lausai. I notice that his sai was slimmy & has streaks of blood, not noticable – but I put the potty right infront of my eye… my son mar… Took him to paed the next morn… he has high fever 39* so doc put 2 biji suppository (1 is paracetamol the other one ibuprofen). Suspected intestine infection. Then given Augmentin antibiotic, Smecta & Prolactor (1 hour later)… After comeback from doctor, he slept for more than 3 hours…. Afterthat OK liao no more fever…. phew, cause we are getting on the plane on thursday morning to come back to KL. Imagine, if fever & lausai in the plane…
Many kids of lausai & fever recently.

Just sharing, the doc advice is that if the fever very high or stubborn, then we can give paracetamol 4 hourly (exclude nite) and top up with ibuprofen 6 hourly…. If normal fever, paracetamol can do. He said this can buy us some time before we get to the doctor. This is only his advice, yet to confirm with other paed. .

  14. Annie Tan says:

Yeah, the doc also told us that he can continue with his milk, no need to change or cut off for his case…

  18. Paik Ling says:

I know exactly how you feel since Bryan himself is a lau-sai KING! I suggest taking him off milk…can replace with lactose-free milk (like from Bebelac) till he feels better. Also make sure he’s hydrated yah :) Get well soon, little Darrius!

  19. constance says:

I hope Darrius is feeling alright now. Have you given him the Rotovirus jab before? I think it helps for kids under 4 years.

Anyway, just for you information if he is not eating alot, you feed him more liquid.. and some glucose drink to keep his energy up. soft bland diet will be great. But tummy troubles i usually cut down on dairy based stuff. However did you know that boiling rice porridge and scooping up the water from the top is a good remedy for most kids who aren’t eating but vomitting/diarrhoea alot.

They have it commercialised too, in the pharmacy called Pedialyte.

    Happy Recovery, Darrius!
