39.2 C
That was how high Darrius’s temperature since 4am this morning.
It started out of the blue last night around 8pm. He still looked normal though he was spotted with a warm temperature so I gave him some paracetamol in the hope it will help bring down the fever. At around 11pm his temperature increased again. So I quickly took his temperature again and he was at 38.5C. I tried to sponge him with a cold towel but he was screaming so loud. Fed him another dose of paracetamol.
He started tossing around 4am with a soft whining sound so I feel his forehead and was shocked that his temperature seemed to have increased further. So I asked him if he want to drink some water and he refused. So I just let him sleep on…
Then at around 7+am he cried so I check his temperature again and was shocked that he is still as warm. So check again with the thermometer and he was at 39.2C. Tried calling PiggyBeng but can’t reach him as he was in a training today. And worst, he is using my car today…. what a bummer!
I gave Darrius some water and patted him to sleep again. When he was asleep, I went to make some milk and brought another round of paracetamol for him. He work up not long after so I fed him his milk but he refused the paracetamol. He told me his ’stomach’ pain-pain. Then I asked where else pain-pain he replied ‘inside the shirt’. I really hope he can tell me where… *sigh* He was totally down… so unlike his active self.
I changed him and brought him to the child specialist opposite our house since I don’t have my car I can’t go to his regular paed at the hospital. Paed said he has viral infection and diarrhea. He gave him a dose of Voltren since his fever is still at 39.2 during the consultation and a whole lot of other medication to be administered at home. Really hate doing this as Darrius simply hates taking medicine!
Now at almost 6pm, his body is still so warm… Just wish it will subside soon…. my poor baby… *sob* *sob*

When my 2 gals hv high fever, paracetemol hardly ever works in bringing down the fever. Suppository works best and I give them 2-3 times a day max. Hope Darrius gets better today!
get well soon. i don’t think there’s any kids whom like to take any medicine at all.

I hope Darius have a speedy recovery. Voltran helps to reduce high fever quickly. I usually keeps them at home. It is to be taken on a 6-8 hours gap and only if child have high fever. Ask the doc for instructions.
i gave my kids paraand if fever doesnt not subside after 4 hrs, i gave them neurofen. i oso use ‘bye bye fever’ and i find that it helps, did u try it too?
