Cuti-cuti Malaysia @ Genting
Another back dated post.
On the Monday after PiggyBeng returned from Bangkok, we drove up to Genting for a day trip. Initially we have wanted to go earlier but thinking about the heavy traffic in most KL roads leading to Genting we only left our house around 9.30am. As expected we were trapped in the car along the way on MRRII till almost near Ampang. Traffic was smooth after that.
We reached Skyway Tower around 11.30am. PiggyBeng dropped us and he drove the car up to the peak. After having a short shopping adventure around the shops there we went to board the cable car. We were lucky as there was not many people in the queue. In less than 10 minutes we boarded our cable car and in less than 12 minutes we arrived safely at Highland Hotel.
We walked quickly to Genting Hotel to meet up with PiggyBeng. As it was still early for lunch we walked about at the Indoor game zone below Genting Hotel. The place has gone through some renovation and it looked so much brighter than before. Though it was a Monday, we can see the place was crowded with holiday makers.

Once the clock strike 12 noon, we walked back up to the lobby of Genting Hotel as we are going to have our lunch at Coffee Terrace. This is the coffee house that has been refurbished and it is sooooooooooooo nice now! The buffet lunch was EXCELLENT! Adult is charged at RM38++ and Senior Citizen get half price! The spread was really good so so much better than before. We were there feasting for at least 2.5 hours!
After lunch, we walked to First World Hotel and asked my parents to have fun at the Star World Casino, while PiggyBeng and myself brought Darrius to the Indoor Theme Park in First World Hotel. We did not get the tickets as Darrius do not like rides that move. So only walked about the theme park and check out the new Tower 2 lobby. While we were at the lobby there were some clowns and one of them gave Darrius a free balloon in the shape of a poodle.
Later when my parents came out they helped to talk over to care for Darrius while PiggyBeng and myself went in to check out the new casino. Was surprised they have made so much changes in FWH. They have converted the Tropical Coffee House into a casino now. Even those food outlets which I used to worked in before have gone through a face lift.
Before we decided to call it a day, we walked back to Genting Hotel and visited the main casinos. We had a few slot machine games and lost RM6…
Yeah, we prefer to spend the $$$ for feasting rather than gamble them away.
On the way down we stopped by Chin Swee temple. There we had another shock. The place has gone through a face lift and they even have a high class vegetarian restaurant as well as hotel rooms! So much has changed!
Over all, we were quite satisfied with our trip this time and we might want to go there again… for the cheap buffet of course! It’s good for a day trip though unless we stay in Awana.
..
P.S. Thanks to JoAnn for the lovely shirt… it came just right on time as we did not bring any warm clothing for Darrius.

sounds like fun! I haven’t been to Genting since 5yrs ago!
We love going to Genting too. Buffet spread is quite cheap, isnt it? I think its probably because after all the gambler spend so much on gambling, they dont bother how much the buffet costs, and the more people, the cheaper it gets. so I always thought their buffet are so popular by that reason alone. ha ha
Had been a year since my last trip there, should go there for a short holiday.
