Penang Mamas Meet

Well, this is a little late but being the oganiser, I must make a post no matter what mah! Was extremely busy on Saturday (after the meet) as I have to prepare some stuff before PiggyBeng is due to fly off again later in the night. Yeah, he will be away for approximately 10 days. Then yesterday I brought Darrius’s Ah Chor out for lunch and later came back to bake another batch of cupcakes (within 3 days I baked 4 batches!) as we were invited to a vegertarian party at PiggyBeng’s aunty’s house… sorry, no photos as camera is with PiggyBeng (it’s about time I get my own camera!!!!)

Ok, about the meet. Sad to say only 3 mamas turned up (including myself). The meet was initiated by KittyCat who will be moving to Xian, China end of next month. KittyCat wished to meet up some blogging mommies so I helped her to coordinate but ended up she did not get to turn up for the event even after numerous re-scheduling (long story on that!) since 2 months back. She is one super busy mommy! (maybe she has a slave driving boss!) Some mommies can’t make it as they wanted to go for holiday or balik kampung since it was a long weekend to celebrate Hari Raya.

The meet was @ Secret Recipes in e-Gate (next to Tesco). Little En-En came together with her mommy, grandma and grandpa and Little Jinny and Yang-yang came with their mommy (Allisia) and daddy all the way from the mainland. KittyCat was supposed to get a ride with Allisia but ended up she aborted the idea due to some other matters.

As for the venue, is was just right as there are hardly any dine in customers. Most will just come for the cakes and majority will buy and go so it left us with the whole place to ourselves. The kids were having fun once they warmed up to one another. Even the serious looking En-en started to walk about after the meal and played catch-me-if-you-can with Darrius and Yang-yang.

However, I have a few complains. Firstly, it was their food (other than the cakes) was kind of unfresh. Both Allisia and myself ordered the fish fillet with lobster sauce and the side dish (made up of boiled mix vegetables) were very soggy and aged looking. Especially the cauliflowers, looked so old and aged at least more than 2 weeks! Not sure if they are using those frozen mix vege. The kid’s burgers set was worst. Both the bread/buns were soooooo hard (prolly a few days old) and the patties were tough too. Imagine poor En-en who only have 8 tooth trying to get a few bites of those! Even Darrius threw the buns away! He was only interested in the alphabets fries. Then they do not have any plastic wares for kids! That means, they are not entirely child friendly except for providing the high chairs (that also they have 3 only). Well, they are doing cake business, and most adults will bring their kids to dine there so the very least that they should do is to provide some plastic bowls and plates. I don’t think parents will be happ to pay for broken plates.

We were there for almost 2 hours. After the makan session, the kids were restless and started to create havoc in the restuarant so we quickly round up our meet by 1pm.

To both Allisia and Sharine, thanks for coming and I hope we can meet again!

I’m so sorry for not being able to attend – I’m writing this from the office where I’ll be marooned for today and tomorrow.

The reason why I’m so pok meng (slave-driven) now is because my boss has agreed to an Oct 30 last working day. That leaves me Nov to pack and prepare for our move to China early Dec.

Allisia was really nice to offer a ride but Lucas and I seriously didn’t have going-out clothes/equipment as I’d just driven over on Fri night in my grubby shorts and t-shirt!

Hope to meet up in Nov – I’ll coordinate this, I promise! Thanks again to Angeleyes for this :-)

aiyoh, you so poor thing. everyone on holiday and you got to work!
aiyah, actually you don’t have to dress up… everyone was wearing casual clothing
