He’s a wine collector
One of my cousin’s hubby used to operates a French restaurant in one of the busy districts in Kuala Lumpur but have since closed down as the town planning agency wanted to take back that piece of land their restaurant was sitting on. Not sure what are the reasons given but they were asked to vacant the building after a one year notice. They have no choice but to cease operation.
Initially they have wanted to relocate their restaurant but decided not to at the end due to various reasons. I think one of their concerns are locations and finding good staff. They used to lament that staff are hard to keep as they will leave once the acquired all the necessary trainings and skills. So at the end they decided to just give up the business altogether.
My cousin’s hubby is also a well known chef as well as a wine collector since he operates a French restaurant and used to purhase all the quality wines when he travels. Some were given by friends and business associates when he attends overseas functions or competitions.
The last time I visited their place, I found a huge wine rack built inside their house. Besides those on the rack, he still have a few unopened boxes stacking around the rack. I often wonder how much is his collection worth.
