What a cruel twist to fate….

Today an old school friend TC whom I met during the Parenthood fair recently at Mid Valley called me up and we chatted for a while. In between our conversation, I asked her if she still keep in touch with some of our old classmates back in the secondary school and etc…

Then I remembered another friend VG who gave birth to a baby boy some time back but her baby was suffering from low oxygen due to the doctor’s negligent. I did not get to talk to VG during that time as she was in a very devastated state though I did called her up and after that we sort of lost contact… As I was on the phone with TC this morning, I asked her how is VG’s son doing and I tell you, I felt sooooooo sad upon hearing what actually happened… The poor boy is in a vegetable state! He can’t see, he can’t hear and he can’t do anything but has been bed ridden since birth! *sob* *sob*

It was such a cruel twist to fate… VG is a very nice gal and she is one of my school top girl having been a straight A student all her life. She worked so hard (her family was not the very rich type) and supported herself through college and uni in Melbourne but doing a few jobs during her A-Level time. And she finally met her hubby who is a doctor but they can’t do anything to help their little baby…

I wonder why she has to go through such a horrible life… She seemed to have everything going for her and this has to happen… And when I asked TC which hospital VG gave birth in, I was in total shock! It was in Gleneagles!!!!!!! And to know that a very popular OBG who actually denied his negligence towards the baby really make me burst with anger! I wish VG will get what she is fighting for (in her attempt to sue the OBG for negligence) and put that stewpig OBG out of practice!

This is a sad story! Hope that your friend accepts her fate and is doing the best she can for her son. I’ve seen an elderly couple in my church caring for a 100% mentally retarded girl – you’d feel sorry for them but after seeing her parents love and care for her, you’ll be touched and inspired by the strength of the human spirit!

  10. Really tragic. Hope justice is served here. Don’t need negligent doctors ruining people’s lives. :(

  11. in malaysia, its really hard to sue doctors. look at the numerous cases of doc negligence that causes death and lots of cases where the child/bb is not handle with care. we pray for yr friend…

hi! i dont know whether u r talking abt the same case that i knew of, also happened at gleneagles..and she’s my friend’s sil, also married to a doc. the baby boy is abt 3 or 4yrs old now i think and I went to that gynae whn I had Mika! If it’s diff case, then guess that hospital has many negligent deliveries la…sooo scary!

That is a sad story. I’ve seen many babies who are in need of extra special care since Ethan was a premmie. They are just so fragile. And I really felt for the parents who had to worry how their child is going to be everyday when they came to visit.

It is true that it’s very difficult to sue anybody or organisation in Malaysia. The consumer rights need to be enforced. But because the consumers themselves don’t really care, who does?
