19 months +++ Updates

Ok, blame this lousy mama for not doing her job well… it has been more than 2 weeks that Darrius marked his 19-month but I have yet to do his progress report.

There have been so much changes over the past few weeks and this boy is growing fast! Though he still melt our hearts with his cheeky smiles and sweet calling but we have started to noticed his characters has changed from an obedient little boy to one stubborn, defiant and demanding little devil.

If we told him not to do certain things (or stunts mostly) he will ignore us and continue with whatever he wants to do. When it gets on my nerves, I will show him the ‘rotan’ and will pretend to cane him, instead of being afraid he will try to catch the ‘rotan’ and hold on to it and flash me a cheeky smile. *slapped forehead* I found that he has very thick skin too as when I smacked him on his hands or thighs, I can see my hand print there and yet this lil fella don’t feel a thing! :| He will continue with his naugthy stuff and we on the other hand, quacking like some crazy ducks!

Lately he has been fighting with PiggyBeng for the TV. Wheneve PiggyBeng switched on the TV, the lil’ fella will insist his daddy to play the Butterfly DVD for him. If refused, the lil fella will scream his lungs off and starts rolling on the floor crying…

Darrius most significant milestone is his speech abilities. For a 19-month, he can speak very well and has the initiative to learn how to link up more words together to form sentences. Like what he did the previous afternoon when I was tucking him in for his nap. He was blabering away to himself….

Darrius: Dad-di koh chiu, Mam-mi koh chiu, Ar-ver koh chiu

*koh chiu = sleeping /snoring

Sometimes he amazed me with his knowledge. For a small boy, he knows a lot of stuff. Well, that was how he gets the nick name kay-poh-chi as he loves to nose about what we are doing.

Like the other day, PiggyBeng was talking about cutting his hair. So I asked him where is he going to cut this time. When Darrius heard the word ‘cut’ he gets all excited as he knew what it means. The lil’ fella also wanna kaypoh. Then I asked him…

Me: you want to cut your hair? Mommy bring you to ah-neh (Indian man) there to cut you want?

Darrius: Ah-neh cut-cut air (use his hands and poke on his head)

Me: You want to go Ah-neh there?

Darrius: (Shake his head)

Then come to his diet. Ok, this boy eats like there’s no tomorrow! The past 3 weeks, I think I’m feeding an eating machine which never stop eating! Last time, I only give him 3 meals a day nd maybe breastfeed him 2x a day which the amount is less than 2oz each. I will slot in some light snacks in between but not everyday.

Now he eats about 4-5 meals daily. Every morning I will give him a bottle of milk (8oz) or 1 big bowl of oats with either raisins or banana. Then some light snack like Cheerios or biscuits with water or Ribena. Then come lunch, he will take one big bowl of porridge/noodles/pasta. He will normally finished the whole bowl. I will sent him off to nap after lunch and when he wakes up about 2 hours later, I will give him another bottle of milk (6oz) which he will finish as well. Sometimes I will feed him some dried fruits after his milk). 2 hours later I will serve him his dinner (same dish as lunch) and he will finish as well. Before bed time, I will give him another bottle of milk (6-8oz depends on what time he’s sleeping… if late more and if early less).

*Offically he is weaned from the breasts at 18.5 months (no more asking to suckle, or if he did asked and I refused he is not throwing any tantrums unlike the time when I first trying to wean him)

Though he is eating so much, he is not putting on weight and his height is like stagnant…. these really worries us. He still very small for his age as compared to other toddlers. PiggyBeng is worried that Darrius could be a midget…. :( When we were at the paed’s office, we did expressed our concerns but paed said nothing to worry about)

Then we also worried that he has no hair. You know, he is almost 2 lioa but his hair growth is so minimal…. We have cut/shave like 4 times in total only for the whole 19 months! It’s like taking forever to grow! I really hope his hair growth will speed up as I don’t want to send him to Yu Nan Hair Centre at such young age! :(

So far his teeth growth is showing some progress…. at last! He was having 8 teeth since he was 1 till about a few weeks back that his molar is sprouting out. Now there are a few more coming… a lot of cranky nites lately but once he is asleep… it’s throughout till the next day… which is a real blessing for this lazy mommy! :P

Well, there should be more but my brain is a little k-o now due to lack of sleep the past few nights waiting for opps at PPP…. :P

Darrius is definitely talking more than Brae. Brae is like talking using his own languages…so difficult when we can’t understand what he is trying to say.

About his weight, don’t worry lah. As long as the doctor said okay, should be no problem…

I also wonder why Brae is not talking much.. but no worries lar I’m sure he will very soon… just that he is not as kaypoh like my Darrius.

Yeah… I hope he won’t be that small for long…

Darrius speech is much better than Anne. Anne is so lazy to talk! Duh~

hahaha! Anne is cute… her smile do all the talking! LOL

  4. Choi! What midgetlah!!! From his pic, Darrius doesn’t look small. He is growing up, so metabolism increase despite taking so many meals. As long as he is active and healthy, that’s really all that matters, at least from my point of view :)

My mom said all bf babies very small size… now I’m worried he will be ’small’ for the rest of his life… *sigh*
