Building Sentences

Actually I have wanted to note this milestone when I write Darrius’s progress report later this month but I was quite excited about it as it’s a major achievement for him… I’ve never expect him to move so fast but was glad in a way as we can communicate better… at least we know what he wants or trying to tell us.

For the past few days, Darrius has been linking words together to form a sentence. Normally he will say either one or two syllabus words only. I was feeding him his breaky and as usual I will give him something to read (normally brochures) to distract his attention (so he won’t ask for this or that toys). He was flipping through the pages and he was a picture of a boy cutting something on the chopping board and said loudly…

Darrius: Kor-kor cut meat (loud and clear)

Me: (Surprised) Oh! What is kor-kor doing?

Darrius: Kor-kor cut meat

I was quite surprised that he knew how to say the word ‘cut’ as I’ve never really teach him but just simply tell him as I explain the pictures or when I was doing my cooking that I am cutting stuff… guessed he picked words up when I’m talking to him.

In the afternoon, he was crying and I gathered he was hungry. So I told him I will go make milk for him.

Me: Mommy go make milk-milk for you now ok?

Darrius: Ma-mii ma-ke milk-milk. Ma-mi ma-ke milk-milk

Me: What is mommy doing?

Darrius: Ma-mii ma-ke milk-milk

In another occasion, he wanted to play with the remote control and I forbade him so he cried and keep repeating “Ai wan blay, Ai wan blay“….

In fact the past few days he has been bli-bli-bleh-bleh away non-stop to himself. While he’s reading his books or the brochures he will mumbles away loudly and will come to me and blah-blah-blah…. sometimes I can understand what he was trying to say but there are times when I really have no idea at all!

But above all…. I’m still proud of this lil kay-poh-chi of mine… :P

    Way to go for Bryan!
I only speak English to Darrius so he still very ignorant about other languages or dialects.
