It’s the Molar lah!

Darrius’s toothing progress is extremely slow as he only have a total of 8 tooth so far… yeah at 18-month! So, there are many times I can’t really give him any hard type of food as he can’t chew them and ended up swallowing his food which in the end will cause constipation since the food are not able to digest.

His fever still come on and off the last 2 days but it did not occured to me that he could be teething! I was still wondering if I have fed him something heaty which caused the fever. He wasn’t that cranky but rather sticky to me… like a koala bear (as Annie-Q put it) … and for the first time since he gained his freedom, he wanted me to carry him!

I’ve been having trouble feeding him his medicine too as this boy has wised up and will scream the moment he sees me holding the syringe or any liquid in the spoon when it’s not meal time! The trick that I used previously to feed him the med is not working any more! So, now I have to force feed him…. very cruel but no choice! :(

Then while trying to pump the med into his mouth this morning…. guess what I discovered??? His 1st molar (lower right gum) is popping out!!! Then it hit me… no wonder his fever come and go like a yoyo! So, the mysterious fever bug solved! :P

But another tricky thing appeared…. coughing! So, what relation has this coughing gotta do with teething??? Aaarrggghhhh!

Eh? Cough ar?? Paed said when they’re in teething phase, they produces more saliva, therefor they may at times gag on their own saliva. So, if like ‘gei seng cut’ (occassional cough) then it’s okay, anything worse should not have relation to teething….:P

I agree it’s hard to spot the molars growing. Hope little Darrius will be relieved of his pain soon :)

Er… fever and coughing and sore infection – all come in one package under teething.

For Malaika too, fever and congested nose!!!

Gee, teething also means grumpy baby, sleepless night, and tired mommy. :(
Maybe just viral, so coughing. I hope he gets well soon.

Fever, cough and flu are caused by viral infection, but I never believe that teething can cause fever though I heard about that b4. Anyway, not to worry about the teething progress is slow until yr boy boy turns 3!

Bryan’s PD always tell us that teething does not cause high fever. It may cause the body to be warmer and a fussy baby, but not high fever. High fevers are caused by infections.

Do be careful & hope Bryan get well soon.
