It has been 18-month since our little kay-poh-chi came into our lives. Time really flies especially when we need to entertain our little kay-poh-chi during his waking hours and not mentioning those running and chassing around like orang gila (mad people) moments!!
We have yet to bring him for his final jabs at the clinic so we are still quite clueless about his current height and weight. The last time I put him on the scale was almost a month ago and his weight was around 10.5kg then. Not much changes for the last couple of months. I gathered that all his running around has contributed to his stagnant weight. If compared him to other kids his age, Darrius looked rather short and small…. are breastfed babies normally smaller than formula fed babies???
Again, Darrius’s most significant achievement to-date is still his speech. That’s why I called him my little kay-poh-chi . We are so amazed by his ability to grasp new words every few days and able to speak them. For his age, he has got really good memory and he learn very fast. There are times where I just have to read out the word to him once and he can remember. Sometimes he can say out those words too!
Here are some of Darrius’s latest vocabs:
- kai-kai walk-walk - Go out for a walk
- kut-kah - Coconut
- play - Play
- prun - Prune
- whet-whet - Wet
- phain-phain - Pain
- hot-hot - Hot
- kok - Knock
- man- Spiderman
- gueh - Square
- arkel - Circle
- bib-bib - Bib
- woh-woh - Dog
- ti- Aunty
- gukose - Glucose
Some of the conversations we had over the past few weeks:
1. Kai-kai Walk-walk
Just bathed Darrius and was putting on the diaper for him.
Me: Boi, what you want to do later
Darrius: Kai-kai, walk-walk
Me: To where?
Darrius: Kah-kuk! (this boy ah, everyday also kah-kuk!)
2. What are you eating
During one of the meal time, I asked Darrius…
Me: Boi, who gave you the banana just now?
Darrius: Poh-poh
Me: Who ate banana just now?
Darrius: Poh-poh *slapped forehead* (he still can’t distinguish the questions yet)
3. Sing A-B-C
Me: A
Darrius: Beee…. See…..
4. Recite 1-2-3
Me: One…
Darrius: Toooo….. jui!
5. Sing Twinkle-twinkle Little Star
Me: Twinkle-twinkle little..
Darrius: skar!
Me: How I wonder what you…
Darrius: R!
6. Funny game
Me: How you laugh?
Darrius: hahahahhaaa
Me: How you smile?
Darrius: *smile with a smirk on his face)
Me: How you cry?
Darrius: emmmMaaaaaaa!
Darrius is getting more imaginative. Sometimes Darrius will play with his imaginary ’phone’. Yea, he will take an object (my phone cover or anything he was holding) and pretend it is the phone and will start talking to it…
Darrius: Dad-di! bli-bleh-bli-bleh… kai-kai,walk-walk…. bli-bleh-bli-bleh… kah-kuk…
or
Darrius: gong-gong…. bli-bleh-bli-bleh….
Besides his intelligence, another notable milestone is his extreme bad temper! Bleh~ There are a few words (NO, CANNOT, HEP-HEP) that we can’t say to him (pantang) or else he will close his face and cry or bang his head to the chair if he’s sitting or to the wall if he’s near the wall or he will wuahahhahaha so loud as if someone is torturing him! I think this triad hor, he inherited from his daddy lah! The chow AhBeng’s fault!
Next, wanna talk about Darrius’s diet. Ok, confirmed this kay-poh-chi is a tong-sampah (trash bin). You see, talk a lot must also eat a lot! Talking used up energy mah! This kay-poh-chi loves to eat what other people around him are eating. He will refused to eat his own food if he sees us eating something else. So mommy and daddy spoilt him by letting this kay-poh-chi taxing their food!
I am still in the process of trying to wean Darrius off the breasts. So far so good. I managed to kept him away for almost 2 days without letting him have any bfg session. During the night he will still cry but when I refused he can fall back to sleep on his own.
He can play his toys alone for a longer period. Also, he will imitate things that we do… Monkey see, Monkey do! There was this funny thing that he did b4 we came back to KL last month. I was stripping him cause wanna bathe him. Then suddenly he said this…. “dad-di, kruuuuuuuzzz” I was a little blur initially but that boy repeated “dad-di, kruuuuzzzz” and later then I realised he was talking about his daddy’s snoring!
This boy also know who is who! When we asked him who give him what, he can answer and normally his answers are very accurate (unlike the case above, we can’t asked him multiple questions pertaining to the same case or he will get confused). Normally he can tell us the last person who has given him something.
I have since upgraded Darrius to the shower a few weeks back. Yeah, mommy is lazy so son have to suffer! But I think Darrius enjoyed his shower sessions. Though he will scream each time the water trickled down his face when I wash his hair but will be so happy ’sapu’ (rubbing) the water on the floor.
That’s all I can remember… probably will do separate entries when I remembered all the other stuff Darrius can do…
Happy 18-Month my Darling!
p/s: Thanks to Jazzmint for the beautiful scrap!
