Cranky, Whinny and Manja…

Published by Angeleyes under Juz Rambling, My Prince

For the past few days, Darrius has been extremely cranky, whinny and manja especially during the day. I’m not sure if these got any relation with his teething.

When he’s playing with his toys or doing any other things, he wants me to be with him or he will starts to cry… *sigh* He will use the ‘kok-kok’ (knocked) and phain’ (pain) tricks to get my attention if I ignored him. Yeah, he’s still as cheeky though he’s sick… :P
Last night it took me more than 1.5 hours to tuck him in to bed! I just don’t understand where he got his energy from as his woke up from his nap at around 1.30pm and he did not sleep till almost 11.30pm! To tired him out, I brought him out to the nearby mall to buy some stuff at around 8pm but this guy has so much energy even he’s wasn’t feeling too well.

His cough is getting slightly worst than the day before… I think there’s phlegm. His nose will get stuffy when evening approaches and will get runny at night. Then when he was about to sleep, it will get blocked… *double sigh*

p/s: Thanks to all of you for your well wishes… we too hope Darrius will be fine soon.

It’s the Molar lah!

Published by Angeleyes under Milestone, My Prince

Darrius’s toothing progress is extremely slow as he only have a total of 8 tooth so far… yeah at 18-month! So, there are many times I can’t really give him any hard type of food as he can’t chew them and ended up swallowing his food which in the end will cause constipation since the food are not able to digest.

His fever still come on and off the last 2 days but it did not occured to me that he could be teething! I was still wondering if I have fed him something heaty which caused the fever. He wasn’t that cranky but rather sticky to me… like a koala bear (as Annie-Q put it) … and for the first time since he gained his freedom, he wanted me to carry him!

I’ve been having trouble feeding him his medicine too as this boy has wised up and will scream the moment he sees me holding the syringe or any liquid in the spoon when it’s not meal time! The trick that I used previously to feed him the med is not working any more! So, now I have to force feed him…. very cruel but no choice! :(
Then while trying to pump the med into his mouth this morning…. guess what I discovered??? His 1st molar (lower right gum) is popping out!!! Then it hit me… no wonder his fever come and go like a yoyo! So, the mysterious fever bug solved! :P
But another tricky thing appeared…. coughing! So, what relation has this coughing gotta do with teething??? Aaarrggghhhh!

A Chaotic Weekend…

Published by Angeleyes under Weekends, My Prince

Since this boy was soooooo in lurved with kah-kuk, we decided to bring him for a short spin (to nearby Jusco) when my dad came home in the evening. We arrived home about 10+pm and quickly I tried tucking Darrius in for bed. His little body was unusually warm but I told my mom that hopefully it will subside by the morning as we were invited by a friend of mine to visit her new home…. and I was soooo looking forward to the gathering.

I woke up around 4am and could felt Darrius body so warn that I began to worry as I do not have any paracetamol with me (forgot to bring those back from Penang). So I tried to get a cold towel and put on his forehead but the little fella refused and made a fuss but I managed to coax him to drink some water. He falls back to sleep shortly. Then around 6ish, I woke up again and Darrius’s fever has not subsided so I was getting really worried. I quickly put some ice into the bowl of water so I can soak the towel in it and put it on Darrius forehead in the hope to bring his fever down. Darrius felt the extra cold towel on his forehead and fussed again but he allowed me to put it there for a while longer…

Around 8ish, Darrius woke up and I could feel the fever is still there and it pained my heart. Dad said we should bring him to the doctor soon as mom was worried the fever will damage Darrius’s brain (my mom was exagerating a bit lar as she’s quite paranoid about fever). Then I was quite sad as I have to call my friend to cancel our appointment. No choice lar since Darrius is not feeling well…. We were actually intending to throw a birthday surprise to another friend so I was lagi sad as I was the one who purchased the cake! :( Was supposed to bake but due to time constrain and short notice, I have to buy but I promise this friend that I will bake one specially for her next time! ;)

So, off we went to the doctor nearby my parents’ place. This was our first time going to this clinic as the GP in the clinic at we used to go to won’t be on duty till afternoon. This is a ‘one-leg-kick’ kinda clinic where the doctor herself do everything! According to my dad, she only do regular customers’ business. Darrius was diagnosed with throat infection (again!) so he was given antibiotic with fever med to bring down the fever. I asked for Voltren too just incase his fever comes back again…. knowing Darrius don’t like oral medication.

After the doctor’s consultation, fed Darrius the med and we went to have breakfast… was damn hungry lioa. Then finally Darrius fever subsided so persuaded my dad to drop us off to my friend’s place. As we were dressed too casual, decided to go back home to change. When we were about to reach home, Darrius complaint he wanted to ‘poo’! So, I quickly go get the potty for him once we stepped into the house. While I was trying to undress him, he suddenly puke! Aaarrrggghhh! Then have to clean up lar! :(
At almost noon, we get out of the house and head to my friend’s place. Finally arrived around 1pm… after all the wrong turnings! We had lunch and chatted for a while before blowing the candles…. We left around 3pm and dropped by Tesco at Puchong to buy milk for Darrius.

Later in the evening, we went to Kajang for one of mom’s friend’s wedding. It was a Malay wedding. This is one of the grandest Malay wedding I’ve ever been to and 1st one which took place at night too! It was set in a field at the groom’s place with many tentages. The ‘kenduri’ is to serve at least 1000 guests! There were only 4 buffet lines so when the mealtime started… the beelines at the buffet tables were so long! Then just 3 mins later the whole place went ‘pooped’! The lights went off! I was busy scooping the curry prawns… and everybody went berserk while trying to dish everything from those trays! Ended up, I managed to get only prawns heads! :(
We left slightly after 9pm. Quickly tuck Darrius into bed as we have a long day ahead on Sunday… A makan trip up north! Will blog separately about it…

*kah-kuk!* *kah-kuk!*

Published by Angeleyes under Juz Darrius

Since the past few nights, Darrius has been having sleep through and never wake up till almost 8am. Then this morning, he did woke up around 6am+ and asked for milk but like usual, I will coax him back to sleep. After protesting for a while he went back to sleep.

Then around 9am+, I was woken up by his scream….

Darrius: *kah-kuk!* *kah-kuk!* *kah-kuk!* nyaaaaanyaaaaa….

Me: Boi, what happened???

Darrius: *kah-kuk!* *kah-kuk!* *kah-kuk!* nyaaaaanyaaaaanyaaaaaaaaaaaa

Me: ??????

Guess what???? The little kay-poh-chi had a dream…. and of all things he dreamt of kah-kuk! *slapped forehead*

Note: kah-kuk = Tesco or Jusco

3 nights in a roll!!!

Published by Angeleyes under Milestone, My Prince

I’ve been trying to wean Darrius off the breasts almost a month now. It was tough in the beginning especially for Darrius as he is such an addict to the breasts that he will cry and cry, kicking his legs and screaming so loud in the middle of the night pleading for a suckle…

In just a week we will reach a month that we are into this weaning process and I’m proud to say he is able to sleep (for naps or at night) without asking for any sucklings. Though he will throw a little tantrum every now and then when I refused him but he gets over it very fast and will falls back to sleep in no time. And for the past 3 nights, Darrius was able to have undisturbed sleep throughout the night from 10+pm till the next morning 8+am. This is a significant improvement and I hope to keep it that way till he is completely weaned before we return to Penang next month.

Keeping my fingers crossed. :)

i sAng fOr mA-mii aNd pOh-PoH

Published by Angeleyes under Weekends, Googoo-Gaagaa

Finally kau-fu sent the photos we took almost 2 weeks ago! Guess where we went?

We went to sing-song lar! :) It was Mommy’s Day, a day specially for ma-mii and poh-poh. I went together with ma-mii, poh-poh, gong-gong, kau-fu and kam-moh (too bad dad-di not around or else I can hear him croak! ) to this very nice place called GreenBox inside that kah-kuk (Jusco) nearby gong-gong’s house.

We arrived early to check in as ma-mii already made a booking for the Parents Day’s Package a week before. The deal came with food and songs! Finally we were being lead to our own room with a long sofa and a big TV. After the kor-kor showed us how to operate the sing-song box, gong-gong also starts to program in all the songs he wanted to sing with poh-poh. Ma-mii on the other hand, very busy trying to westler with me to sit still and not wriggle away walking up and down the sofa! *cheeky grin*

The buffet was served at 6.30pm and ma-mii went to grab some mumm-mumm for all of us to eat… yeah, ma-mii fed me with some very yummy pasta, soup and a lot of snacks too! *yummy* Kau-fu and kam-moh only came after 7pm. Ma-mii even sneaked me out to the kiddyland in kah-kuk halfway through so I can satisfy my booon-booon crave! ;P

We had so much fun (especially me) as I get to sing my favourite songs too! Ma-mii  sang Twinkle-twinkle Little Star, Row-row-row Your Boat and London Bridge is Falling Down with me leh! Who said small boy won’t enjoy Kara-OK? :P

mY 1sT MEGA pArtY bAsH!

Published by Angeleyes under Weekends

Ma-mii and I were invited by ma-miis of Kylie jie-jie, Cruz and Fearless kor-kor and Ashley jie-jie to their super mega Birthday Party bash last weekend on 19 May at the big burger place near to that kah-kuk (Tesco) which gong-gong always brings me to. This was my 1st time attending such a mega scale party and there were so many people!

On that day I did not get to nap a lot as I followed ma-mii and this lovely aunty and handsome kor-kor for shopping and mumm-mumm session in the morning after breakfast with gong-gong and poh-poh. I only had a short nap before ma-mii bundled me up into the car…. so this was how I looked like when I arrived at the party….

*grumpy face* eerrr…. who are you???

me and my maa-mii

Gong-gong and poh-poh came along too (since ma-mii still dare not drive me alone) and they helped ma-mii to feed me with all the yummies from that colour box. Then suddenly this pretty aunty came and carry me… then Jayden di-di came and sit together.

me with Aunty Sasha and Jayden di-di

me and my gong-gong

I’ve never been to something like this party before… so many little friends! Too bad my mood wasn’t too good so I did not play with any of the kor-kor, jie-jie, di-di and mei-mei. Then I saw this Uncle Clown… and since then my eyes has been following him for the entire time I was there. Ma-mii and gong-gong even brought me near to Uncle Clown to get some balloons. Then Uncle Clown was playing with all the kor-kor, jie-jie, di-di and mei-mei but I was so stunt and only sat on gong-gong’s lap and watch.

Poh-poh fed me some bread, fries and cola while I was busy watching what Uncle Clown was doing. Everyone was screaming but I just sat there and watch…. *sigh*

Ma-mii on the other hand, was so busy go kay-poh-ing with all the aunties. Then she went to carry Brae’s kor-kor’s mei-mei Shayanne and I could tell you I’m soooo jealous! :( Ma-mii also carried Jayden di-di but since Aunty Sasha carried me so I’m not that mad…. :P
Later after the Birthday song session, ma-mii brought some cakes over and I ate so much! I love the yellow cake with lots of gummie baked by Aunty Peggy. Both gong-gong and myself wallup 3 pieces together! Poh-poh also fed me the Man (Spiderman) cake as well as the Barney jelly… All were sooooooo yummy!

We left around 6.30pm as poh-poh needs to rush home to catch that singing competition show on the TV. Ma-mii has wanted to stick around longer but too bad… we need to leave!

As dad-di brought the camera with him, ma-mii did not have one to capture any picture for the occassion but thanks to Aunty Jazzmint and Aunty Shannon, they sent some of the photos with me in it to ma-mii so she can post them up here!

So, if you wanna see more photos and stories, you can go here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, herehere and here too! *woooooh that was a long list!*

And ma-mii has something to say too… she want to thank Aunty Annie-Q for the yummies she got for ma-mii all the way from Sarawak!

Meaning behind My Little *Ah Seng*

Published by Angeleyes under Memes, My Prince

I’ve been so lazy to do any memes the past few weeks and they are piling up higher than Mt Everest! hehehe *exegerate a bit*  I still owes a lot of mommies’ tags! Please be patient ah…. I’ll try my best to do all!

Guess what? I have been tagged not once but double, triple, quantuple and finally quintuple on this particular tag! Keng or not????? (sorry, if I’ve missed out anyone)

Wanted to do earlier but was thinking I go find the Chinese word first but again, I was super duper lazy…. as usual! Another reason was, I have forgotten the meanings behind those words… and always forgot to ask my dad… so lagi more delayed.

Now, before another mommy or daddy decided to tag me again on this I better cepat-cepat do my homework!

The name ‘Darrius‘ was actually picked by me. Yeah, PiggyBeng said since I EFNTD, so better do something worthy while waiting to pop! The original spelling is ‘Darius’ and was the name of a  Great Persian King (King Darius the Great, 549BC-486BC). I seldom see this name being used so it’s kinda unique to me. At first I thought of changing the spelling to ‘Dreyrius‘ to make it even more stylo-milo but PiggyBeng said why make things so complicated? Anyway, my hands still itchy and added another ‘r’ to it so it’s Darrius now.

As for Darrius’s Chinese name, it was picked by both PiggyBeng and my dad. Have wanted to give my FIL the honour but he is also a banana like myself and PiggyBeng so he told us to do the selection. My dad actually came out with a few names but they don’t sounds too nice though they have very nice meaning behind.

Finally, during a family gathering in Ipoh just before I popped, PiggyBeng and my dad brainstormed and came out with JiaCheng (pronounced as Jia-Chern). Don’t ask me about the Chinese words, I am still not sure how to write them! The name derived from one of the world’s richest man, Mr Lee Kah Shing from Hong Kong. Instead of using the Cantonese version we used the ping-yin version so it can fit nicely in all dialects.

The meaning of ’Jia‘ is “jovial” and ’Cheng‘ is “successful” (chen-kung in Mandarin) . Of course every parents want their kids to be someone who is always happy as well as successful mah… further more my PiggyBeng is so obsessed with $$$! He hoped his son will be the next richest man! Bleh~

Hmm…. I’m named after a King ah?

So, in Hokkien, Darrius’s name is Ah Seng! So now I have both Ah Beng and Ah Seng at home  My Beng-ish darlings…. hehehe Currently there’s this Taiwanese show, Taiwan Ah Seng playing on Ch8…. he’s also a ’successful businessman’ wor… hehehe So, will my Little Ah Seng be a successful businessman one day???

Ok, now for the linky stuff…. to be fair, I linked everyone with their origional links….

Eighteen Moons….

Published by Angeleyes under Milestone, Juz Darrius

Scrap courtesy from Jazzmint

It has been 18-month since our little kay-poh-chi came into our lives. Time really flies especially when we need to entertain our little kay-poh-chi during his waking hours and not mentioning those running and chassing around like orang gila (mad people) moments!!
We have yet to bring him for his final jabs at the clinic so we are still quite clueless about his current height and weight. The last time I put him on the scale was almost a month ago and his weight was around 10.5kg then. Not much changes for the last couple of months. I gathered that all his running around has contributed to his stagnant weight. If compared him to other kids his age, Darrius looked rather short and small…. are breastfed babies normally smaller than formula fed babies???

Again, Darrius’s most significant achievement to-date is still his speech. That’s why I called him my little kay-poh-chi . We are so amazed by his ability to grasp new words every few days and able to speak them. For his age, he has got really good memory and he learn very fast. There are times where I just have to read out the word to him once and he can remember. Sometimes he can say out those words too!

Here are some of Darrius’s latest vocabs:

  • kai-kai walk-walk - Go out for a walk
  • kut-kah - Coconut
  • play - Play
  • prun - Prune
  • whet-whet - Wet
  • phain-phain - Pain
  • hot-hot - Hot
  • kok - Knock
  • man- Spiderman
  • gueh - Square
  • arkel - Circle
  • bib-bib - Bib
  • woh-woh - Dog
  • ti- Aunty
  • gukose - Glucose

Some of the conversations we had over the past few weeks:

1. Kai-kai Walk-walk

Just bathed Darrius and was putting on the diaper for him.

Me: Boi, what you want to do later

Darrius: Kai-kai, walk-walk

Me: To where?

Darrius: Kah-kuk! (this boy ah, everyday also kah-kuk!)

2. What are you eating

During one of the meal time, I asked Darrius…

Me: Boi, who gave you the banana just now?

Darrius: Poh-poh

Me: Who ate banana just now?

Darrius: Poh-poh *slapped forehead* (he still can’t distinguish the questions yet)

3. Sing A-B-C

Me: A

Darrius: Beee…. See…..

4. Recite 1-2-3

Me: One…

Darrius: Toooo….. jui!

5. Sing Twinkle-twinkle Little Star

Me: Twinkle-twinkle little..

Darrius: skar!

Me: How I wonder what you…

Darrius: R!

6. Funny game

Me: How you laugh?

Darrius: hahahahhaaa

Me: How you smile?

Darrius: *smile with a smirk on his face)

Me: How you cry?

Darrius: emmmMaaaaaaa!

Darrius is getting more imaginative. Sometimes Darrius will play with his imaginary ’phone’. Yea, he will take an object (my phone cover or anything he was holding) and pretend it is the phone and will start talking to it…

Darrius: Dad-di! bli-bleh-bli-bleh… kai-kai,walk-walk…. bli-bleh-bli-bleh… kah-kuk…

or

Darrius: gong-gong…. bli-bleh-bli-bleh….

Besides his intelligence, another notable milestone is his extreme bad temper! Bleh~ There are a few words (NO, CANNOT, HEP-HEP) that we can’t say to him (pantang) or else he will close his face and cry or bang his head to the chair if he’s sitting or to the wall if he’s near the wall or he will wuahahhahaha so loud as if someone is torturing him! I think this triad hor, he inherited from his daddy lah! The chow AhBeng’s fault!
Next, wanna talk about Darrius’s diet. Ok, confirmed this kay-poh-chi is a tong-sampah (trash bin). You see, talk a lot must also eat a lot! Talking used up energy mah! This kay-poh-chi loves to eat what other people around him are eating. He will refused to eat his own food if he sees us eating something else. So mommy and daddy spoilt him by letting this kay-poh-chi taxing their food!

I am still in the process of trying to wean Darrius off the breasts. So far so good. I managed to kept him away for almost 2 days without letting him have any bfg session. During the night he will still cry but when I refused he can fall back to sleep on his own.

He can play his toys alone for a longer period. Also, he will imitate things that we do… Monkey see, Monkey do! There was this funny thing that he did b4 we came back to KL last month. I was stripping him cause wanna bathe him. Then suddenly he said this…. “dad-di, kruuuuuuuzzz” I was a little blur initially but that boy repeated “dad-di, kruuuuzzzz” and later then I realised he was talking about his daddy’s snoring!
This boy also know who is who! When we asked him who give him what, he can answer and normally his answers are very accurate (unlike the case above, we can’t asked him multiple questions pertaining to the same case or he will get confused). Normally he can tell us the last person who has given him something.

I have since upgraded Darrius to the shower a few weeks back. Yeah, mommy is lazy so son have to suffer! But I think Darrius enjoyed his shower sessions. Though he will scream each time the water trickled down his face when I wash his hair but will be so happy ’sapu’ (rubbing) the water on the floor.

That’s all I can remember… probably will do separate entries when I remembered all the other stuff Darrius can do…

Happy 18-Month my Darling!

p/s: Thanks to Jazzmint for the beautiful scrap!

I don’t wanna go home! Wuahaaha!!!

Published by Angeleyes under Juz Darrius

“kai-kai, walk-walk”That’s the first two words Darrius will say when he wakes up! This boy of mine is so wild at heart that all he thinks of is to get out of the house!

Since Darrius came to stay in KL the past 3 weeks, my parents have been doting on him. Dad will bring Darrius out for a walk around our block when he returned home from work. In fact, Darrius will starts to wait patiently for his gong-gong every evening by the door. Sometimes, when I knew dad will be late, I will bring Darrius out instead before the sky turns dark.

Darrius enjoyed such walk as he hardly got such chance when he was back in Penang. Our house in Penang is near to the main road and there’s a lot of cars passing so it’s unsafe to walk about. Also not to mention about some suspicious looking people lurking around our area. So, the next best thing he had back in Penang is sitting on the swing with his daddy.

Over the weekends, we will bring Darrius go shopping at all the malls. He loves his out-of-the-jail time after couped up in the house for 5 long days… :P We will let him walk about in the open space in the malls just like what we used to do back in Penang. He enjoyed every minute of it!

Then when we return home from our shopping trip, before we reach our drive way (like about 25-50 m away) Darrius will starts to recognise the surrounding and wail loudly, banging his whole body on the back seat! Yeah… he don’t wanna go home!!!! Sei mou???

Even when we brought him out for a walk around the block, he will want to turn back to the other direction when he is a few houses away from my parents’ place. The moment we pull him back to the gate he will scream! Sometimes my dad will bring Darrius for a few rounds but that little monster will sure to “wuahaaahahaa” when he reached the gate!
