Another night of fright…

Published by Angeleyes under Alamak!

Thanks all for your concerns. Darrius is finally well now after another rollercoaster night…

On Wednesday morning, Darrius was spotted with slight fever again after which it subsided during mid morning. I actually packed up my stuff and prepared to bring him to the paed opposite my house but since his fever subsided, I stayed put instead. He was super cranky the whole day and extremely clingy and I can’t get anything done as he will cry the moment I’m out of his sight! :|

PiggyBeng arrived home around 9pm and I finally get to eat my dinner. FIL brought some food for me and PiggyBeng also brought me some snacks. I was dead tired and brought Darrius up to sleep around 10pm and PiggyBeng continued with his work.

Suddenly around 2am, Darrius was crying very loudly and woke all of us up. I quickly put my palm on his forehead and it was burning hot! I did not get take his temperature as he was screaming the moment I tried putting the thermometer under his armpit. We quickly go down and off to our GP again. His temperature at the GP’s clinic was 38.4C! So the MO (medical officer) quickly wrote us a referral letter so we can admit Darrius immediately.

We drove to Lam Wah Ee Hospital which was the nearest to our house, so if Darrius really has to be admitted it will be easier for us to travel since it’s only 3 minutes drive away. We have wanted to go to Adventis but it’s too far. We have to go to the A & E to register. The nurse on duty took Darrius’s temperature again and it went down to 38.1C. The MO on duty told us, Darrius’s fever is not at the high point yet so we can choose not to admit him… which was a relief to us. The MO said Darrius could have some infection in his nose which caused the fever. We were then given antibiotic and some suppository to bring down Darrius’s fever.

Darrius’s fever did not go off when he woke up around 10am and he puke all his breakfast out! So quickly call PiggyBeng and he came back around noon to bring Darrius to the paed at Lam Wah Ee. After waiting for more than an 45 minutes, we finally got in to the paed’s office. Paed said there’s nothing to worry about as there’s isn’t any spots on Darrius (which could be dengue) and Darrius’s fever has went down to 36.8C but I insisted to have Darrius’s urine and blood tested (advised by Vien). Paed said we can admit Darrius to do the test but we asked him to do it immediately since we are staying nearby. He prescribed some more medicine to help brings down Darrius’s fever.

The nurse stick a urine bag around Darrius penis so we can collect his urine. Then we brought him to the lap to get his blood out. Darrius was screaming like mad when the lap assistant tried to draw his blood from his hand…. quite a trumatic experience for him… and for us too… poor boy. After ding-dong for more than 3 hours we are finally home. Let Darrius has his nap and his appetite was slightly better… I cooked some soup with noodles for him. I avoid giving him any milk for the day.

Darrius was fine the next day with his fever totally gone. Then called up the paed’s office for the test results. Thank God, everything were fine with only a slight infection detected in his blood. Paed said there’s nothing to worry about. Phew~

We were supposed to drive down to KL on Friday afternoon but all of us were so drained with the whole episode that we decided to drive down on Saturday morning instead.

It was really a scary experience for us… especially for me as I really felt so helpless… what a lousy mommy I am, can dive but can’t drive! From this episode, I vowed that I must get back my confidence in driving no matter what! So, dear road users in Penang and KL, if you spot a snail speed car in front of you, please be kind and don’t honk cause it could be me!!!

Aiyoh! What a day!!!

Published by Angeleyes under Alamak!

Itellyu… sometimes, we just have those oddest luck!

Today my PiggyBeng left at 8.30am for a 2D1N biz trip to Singapore. Coincidentally, my MIL also left for her Taiwan trip this morning! So, guess what? I was left alone with Darrius lah!

Initially, thought that it’s just another day with only the two of us in the house. No big deal. This is our very first time being all alone in this house. Normally PiggyBeng will not plan for any trips if my MIL is going away. However, there’s a little communication problem and it was too late to make changes.

The drama starts right after my MIL left for the airport at around 11.15am. Darrius was not his usual self. Suddenly he was very manja after MIL’s departure. Not suspecting anything peculiar (though he has pooed earlier but after I bathed him he pooed again in his diaper and was quite loose too), I asked him to play his toys and ride his tricycle. After a while, he kept coming to me and like a cat, purr at my thighs and calling out ‘maa-mii, maa-mii, maa-mii’ in a very manja tone. So, I rub his head like what I normally do and ‘S***!’ his forehead was unusually warmer than normal! A little panic, I quickly went to fetch him some water and made him gulp down as much as he can.

He started to look a little tired after about 15 minutes and without thinking further, I gave him some paracetamol with Ribenna and bring him up to have his nap. He don’t normally nap that early but since he is having fever, it’s best to make him rest more. He played for a while and finally doze off after 20 minutes.

He napped for almost 2 hours but his temperature is still there. So I grabbed the thermometer and double check again and true enough it’s 37.9C! Lagi panic now. Anyway, I brought him down and gave him some milk which he only drank half the bottle. An hour later, he was still a little tired looking so I brought him up again but he did not sleep but continued playing with his toys and half way through he puke! On my bed! Arrgghhh! Just changed the sheet 2 days ago…. *sigh*

So quickly bring him down and get ready to bring him to our GP down the road. And of all days, it was raining! Most of you know I still have no courage to drive yet, so I walked there with Darrius on the stroller! It was drizzling slightly so I pushed real fast and less than 10 minutes we reached the GP. Guess what the doc said?

Doc: What’s wrong?

Me: He’s having fever, a little diarrhea and threw up a little.

Doc: (took out his thermometer and checked Darrius’s temperature) It’s 38.1C! Must admit to hospital! His tummy is not looking good either. Lots of wind.

Me: Huh???????? Admit now??? (I was extremely shocked)

Doc: Yeah. Better to admit so can be monitored.

Me: Can’t I monitor him today and see if his fever will go down later? Can’t be that serious right?

Doc: Ok. I give him some medicine and see how is his condition later.

Aiyoh! My heart almost popped out! Already so gabbrah (haywired) lioa some more tell me to admit Darrius to the hospital… How worst can things really be??? So quickly pushed Darrius home before the rain really falling like cows and sheeps… Called PiggyBeng and he told me to prepare the stuff if really must admit Darrius later. Then he called my FIL and asked him to drop by later.

Tried to feed Darrius more milk (did not give him porridge as it’s not suitable when he’s having fever)and his medicine too but he puked them all out! Arrgghh! Worried that he might be hungry, I mixed some Glocouse for him and lucky thing he finished them all… Then I cooked oats with honey for him and he gobbled that down too… *pheww*

By 7pm his fever finally subsided as he was perspiring heavily… which was a good sign. Skyped with PiggyBeng and later FIL came by. Skyped with my parents too and by 10pm, Darrius finally sound asleep in lala-land… Hope his temperature will not return… *keeping fingers crossed*

It seems like all the odds chooses to happen on a day I dreaded it to happen most!

Weekend and stuff…

Published by Angeleyes under Weekends, Juz Darrius

Like usual, our weekend starts on a Friday afternoon. We went about our normal banking stuff and off to do some groceries shopping at Tesco (we’ve stopped viewing cars as PiggyPeng has shortlisted 2 but still undecided which to get). Oh yah! Do you know that Tesco is celebrating it’s 5th Anniversary and a lot of stuff are going at RM5 each? Also not forgetting that for 4 consecutive Friday (beginning 20th April - 11th May), everytime you spent RM50 and above in a single receipt, you will get 5x the BonusLink points! I know it’s not much but at least it’s something! (Call me cheapo! :P)

Saw that MamyPoko diapers are on sale for less than RM43 each (assorted sizes) but they only have Size S and M and Darrius is on Size XL! So I cepat-cepat (quickly) call my dad in KL to get for me instead… hehehee Luckily KL people is not as kiasu as Penangites… my dad managed to get for me the XL ones! Yiiiiiippppppeeeee! :P
After all our purchases, we went to have dinner with my FIL at his favourite place… Yong Pin Restaurant near to Prangin Mall. We can be dining there like every Friday if we go with FIL! The food are not so the fantastica but at least it’s spacious and FIL can have his serves of Chinese tea.

On Saturday, we went out for lunch at Double Good Restaurant with my MIL near to Bukit Jambul. The food was quite good especially their Indonesian Prawns and the Tofu with dried prawns. We were so hungry that I’ve forgotten to snap any photos! Only managed to snap Darrius at the end before we leave…. :P The restaurant was a bit squezzy but service wise… not too bad and most importantly, prices are reasonable.

Darrius is nibbling on some pasta I brought for him

Then guess what? We went to Tesco again! bleah~ Yeah, yeah, it’s like Tesco is our second home… LOL! Since we went to Queensbay Mall on Thursday, we don’t want to go there again and we are lazy to travel downtown so Tesco we went lor! As PiggyBeng wanted to get some lap-cheong (Chinese waxed meat) so he can cook and eat when I’m not around to cook for him after he sent Darrius and me back to KL. Since the weather was extremely hot, where else to go right? Then Darrius can play his favourite kiddy ride too at Tesco.

When we were about to arrive, the lil’ fella fell asleep! Then we have to put him on the trolley with the baby carrier so he can ontinue with his zzz. It has been a long while since we put him in one as he refused to be on one the day he can sit unsupported! After about 20 minutes, he woke up and he looked so blur-blur….

The blur-blur look

After we paid for our purchases, we brought Darrius to the food court area where all the kiddy rides were placed. Look at how much fun he’s having…. and the suit (a pressie from Vien) look soooooo perfect for these shots!

After we went home, we realised that the expiry date on the lap-cheong has long been expired! So, after dinner and shower, we went to Tesco again! We were glad that we can exchange the lap-cheong without any problems… Don’t we just love about the ‘Return Policy’ that these huge hypermarkets have??? :P

p/s: Vien, what do you think??? Darrius leng-chai mou???? :P I did not put on the T-shirt as it was simply too big for Darrius and he was swimming in it! Replaced it with his other shirt.

17-Months and counting…

Published by Angeleyes under Milestone, Juz Darrius

My Oh My! Darrius is 17-month lioa! Things are moving so fast when we are extremely busy! I don’t even blog or blog hop at night any more as I was soooooooo tired when I entered the room every night! I’ve almost forgotten to write Darrius’s updates as there are just too many happenings over the past few days.

Darrius has also been more demanding now as he can ‘talk’ and calling out to dad-di or maa-mii. I can’t even leave him alone for long as he will be wailing for me after 5 minutes or so with ‘maa-mii? maa-mii?’…. sounded so kesian (poor thing) and i have to leave whatever I’m doing to attend to him.

His speech is getting better each day as he tries to join 2 words together now. Yesterday, when he wokeup and wanted to have milk, he said ‘maa-mii, murk-murk’ with pleading eyes.

Darrius’s latest vocabs:

  • bret - Bread
  • cro - Cross
  • car - Star
  • mooooo - Moon
  • mol - Mole
  • mont - Moth
  • boon-kar - Tricycles
  • ack - Flag
  • kak kak - Kakak (sister)
  • mower - Flower

Now Darrius loves to climb the stairs when we are not looking. He will first climbs the first 2 steps and if we are not aware, he will try to climb the rest! However, he dare not come down by himself!

I’ve taught him to hold the spoon and hoping he can start feeding himself soon. Now he knows how to hold the spoon but whenever I put something into the bowl he will use his fingers/hands instead! *slap forehead* When he’s tired with all the food sticking on his palms/hands he will then rub his hands on his head! Aaarrrggghhh! There’s always cookie crumbs lar, cereal crumbs lar, pasta crumbs  and whatever crumbs lar on his head if I just leave him alone for a while.

Recently I have been cooking and eating a lot of spicy food and this little gluttony will scream for a bite. I will give him whatever but will warn him first saying the food is ‘hot-hot’ but he will insist on what I’m having! So I just give him lar! Now he likes all the spicy food! He will give a funny expression when the spiciness reaches his taste bud but will still scream for more! So tham-jiak!:P

I have started him on a myraid types of food and so far he’s taking them with not much problems. No allergy reactions or what so ever. With the recent mango season, PiggyBeng even fed Darrius some and he seemed to loves them! I’m sure my mom would not approve as she regards mangoes as ‘adult food’! :P
After walking for 3 months, now Darrius can run too! Though his steps are still quite wobbly at times but he is such an impatient chap and always want to walk real fast! When we are out shopping, he refused to be hold too as he likes to walk by himself.

Has been trying to wean him off my breasts for over 2 months now but still not very successful. Now I still have to breastfeed him at least once a day or night… if he asked for it if not I will not remind him either. A few nights ago, he did managed to sleep through but last night he asked for milk again. Hopefully I can get to wean him off completely before he turns 18-month.

Even though Darrius only naps once a day but he can sleep longer, 1.5-3 hours daily. This leaves me more time to blog do my stuff. :) However, he do not want to sleep early at night and will want to play with us… so we have to pretend to be sleeping and only then he will try to toss and turn till he falls asleep…

Huh? You talking about me?

Little Reader @ Borders

Published by Angeleyes under Juz Rambling, Juz Darrius

Last Thursday was a public holiday for folks in Ipoh as it was the Perak Sultan’s birthday. Coincidentally, it was also my cousin’s birthday so he took leave (as he’s working in KL) and came up with his family for a day trip to Penang.

They arrived around 11.45am so brought them out for lunch at the nearby hawker centre as they wanted to savour some local delights. Then brought them to buy some ‘pheah’ (local biscuits) for gifts to friends at Air Itam before proceeding to Queensbay Mall. The whole idea of the trip is to eat and shop! :P
When we arrived at Queensbay Mall, I showed them around and later we split up as I need to feed Darrius his lunch at the food court. Then I brought him around the mall before ending up at Borders. Since it was a workday, it was rather quiet and we had the entire  children section to ourselves! I let him out of the stroller and gave him some books…

Not too long later, he abandoned the books and was doing this….

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZILKLZyIdY]

At about 4pm, we meet up and went for tea break at Wong Kok Char Chan Teng at Basement. I had the beef brisket noodles which tasted quite good. Then we parted at around 5pm as they wanted to avoid the jam at Penang Bridge.

Called PiggyBeng to pick us up at the entrance but he ended up in the mall instead! So we continued shopping until 8pm! Keng leh! :P

Bae Yong Joon VS Darrius

Published by Angeleyes under Bleh~

A delayed post…

I’m a huge fan of Korean heart-breaker Bae Yong Joon if you do not know so when I knew April Snow will be showing over Channel 8 last Saturday, I was estatic. So much so, I actually circled on the calendar!

(Photo borrowed from Wikipedia)

You must be wondering why I don’t get the DVD right? Well, I read some reviews saying that the show was not as good as it was expected, so stingy me did not want to get it lor! bleh~ I have no qualms of getting his other drama titles especially Hotellier and Winter Sonata… I even made PiggyBeng watch them! :P
Back to the real story… It has been yonks since I was able to catch any shows on the TV uninterupted these days with Darrius around. He loves to stand in front of the TV and watch at close range which is bad for his eyes. Then he loves to press the ON/OFF button when he walk past the TV (this is when he is in the living room). He will demand to have the remote control and will start to press all the buttons there and caused me to miss some of the conversations in the show I’m watching.

So, before last Saturday, I made a request to PiggyBeng and asked him to care for Darrius so I can watch my show in peace, down in the living room - alone. As the show was scheduled at 9.30pm, which is also Darrius’s time to go upstairs to prepare for his bed time, it would be perfect for PiggyBeng to tuck his son in…. alone. Though we have a TV set in the room, it would be too distracting with Darrius wanting to touch the screen and etc…

Before the show, we went shopping so after reaching home around 9pm, I quickly feed Darrius his supper and changed him. I still missed the first 10 minutes of the show as he was a little cranky when I changed him. I was so happy to finally settled down and even brought out all my snacks to munch!

I heard foot thumping upstairs, so I guessed that Darrius is till busy playing with his daddy and think nothing of it until just before 10.10pm, I heard footsteps on the staircase… Out came PiggyBeng and Darrius! duh~

Me: Eh??? Still awake????

PiggyBeng: He said he wants mommy wor… (putting Darrius down)

Darrius: Maa-mii! (with a cheeky grin and walked over to me)

Me: Aiks! How come you not sleeping boi?

Darrius: (starts to pull my snack’s container)

Me: Aiyah! Why like that lar??? Mommy can’t even have some peace watching the show…. (then turned toward PiggyBeng) You told me ‘No-Problem’ just now??? How come this fella still awake one???

PiggyBeng: I switched off the light he screamed lioa so how? Then he cried for you… so boh pian lor… I bring him down lor..

Me: tsk…tsk…tsk…

(They sat with me for a while and PiggyBeng brought Darrius up again after 10 minutes or so and I continue with my show)

20 minutes later… they were down again! Aaarrggghh!!! This time PiggyBeng was mad lioa… and Darrius was all teary eyes…. *haiyah*

No choice lor…. switched off the TV and go upstairs lor! True enough, Darrius started to go near the screen and putting his hands on and wipe around the TV screen even when I screamed ‘NO’ at him (I have not been watching TV for the longest time in my room since I knew all these will take place). Then he insist he wants to hold the remote control so ended up PiggBeng has to remove the batteries.

The show was a little mundane so I guess I don’t really missed much but then again… it cut short the time I have staring at BYJ’s handsome face mah!!!! :(

But then again … how can I refused this cheeky face fella leh??? :P

Wierd Stuff #1

Published by Angeleyes under Juz Darrius

I did mentioned previously that Darrius has been doing some weird stuff…

The past weeks, while I nursed him to nap/sleep (yeah, he still wants to be nursed), he will tickle his ear lightly (right side as only my righty has not dried up) and slowly drift off to lala-land.

So, I told PiggyBeng about this little action done by our boy and guess what his reply? “Try to tickle your own ears and see if it’s shiok or not?” heeeheee

PiggyBeng chipped in and said “can be orgasmic even!” :P
Eeerrr… Karma Sutra starts at such young age ah???

Starting all over again????

Published by Angeleyes under Alamak!

Can we???? After all these years?

I’ve just read an article that there’s an intention to scrap the Internet and start anew to address the problems in “security, mobility and other challenges” that has cropped up over the few decades.

Try to imagine if we have…

  • No email
  • No blogging
  • No surfing
  • No downloading
  • No gaming
  • No Skyping
  • No MSNing
  • No whatever we do on the Internet

Till they addressed all the problems…

Can we live without not having the Internet???

Some people out there literally live on the Internet and without it for a minute could mean… I don’t know…. I can’t imagine! :|
