Darrius is 14-month +
Yet another delayed post….
Another month passed by and Darrius is 14-month and 10 days today! So fast… it feels like only yesterday that he was still this little sleeping baby I’m craddling and now he already going to walk by himself! *rub rub eyes* Am I dreaming????
Height: Did not measure
Weight: +/- 10kg
Tooth: 7 (4 on upper gum & 3 on bottom gum)
Development updates:
This little kay-poh-chi is turning into a chatterbox, picking up words very fast! He just wanna talk and talk… he is also very good at mimicking what we are saying though most of the time we can’t make out what he’s saying but in between there are one or two words which are very clear… here are some of the latest vocabs:
Mama or Maa - Yes! Finally my little devil knows how to call me…
Poh-poh (my mom) – He will call in a very hiau (vain) manner… and very softly too…
Gong (my dad and FIL) – Funny thing he can’t say gong-gong but just gong… always short form!
Bak (Bus) – He will says this loudy every time he sees a bus or any long vehicles passes by. Will continue until someone heards him…. can be very annoying… LOL He used to be able to say ‘Bus’ when he started talking but now the ’s’ seemed to have gone hiding!
Book – Loud and clear! He will demand to have his books when he sees them or when I’m feeding him half way…. and will not continue eating till I get it to him… so mah huan!
Kor-kor (Brother) – Only taught him once and he can call out to his cousin brother
Goo-goo (Aunty) – Calling my SIL (PiggyBeng’s sister)
Ball-ball (Ball) – Funny enough he can say this word twice each time
Kut-kut (Water) – This is a baby word we used to refer to water which sounded like ‘gulping’
Em-moi (Don’t want in Cantonese) – Will shake his head violently too…
Owl – There’s this picture of an owl in one of his book
Pah-pah (scare) – When I threaten him that the monster will come take him away
Pop-pop – The rice crispies or fruit loops that I gave him for snacks
Cheeseee – He will demand to eat cheese all the time!
Cat – When he sees one or from the book
Bearr (bear) – Referring to his bear toys or picture of bears
Grrroooo-grrooooo-grroooo (plane) – Sound effect of aeroplane and hellicopter
Uummm (moon) – he will point at the moon
I might have missed out some as I can’t recall now. Will do another update later if there are new vocabs that comes out. He’s very keen to talk as compared to walking. He is still quite reserved when we asked him to walk unassisted… the most he will take two steps max and will quickly squat down and started crawling away…. *sigh*
Another important milestone is he beginning to have fear. There was one day while I was bathing him and he saw PiggyBeng’s long pants hanging on the lines and he started yelling and crying away like in a fits - both his hands clammed so tight (which is uncommon when he’s having his bath) and it took me quite a while to realise that he was afraid to look at the pants direction. Then on another incident, I was unintentionally threaten him with the word ‘monster’ and he started to cry… and that time we were in the room and his eyes was fixed at the animals poster which I have pasted on the wall a few days ago. Then PiggyBeng relates to me that those animals’ eyes were a little imtimidating, maybe they all looked so surreal. So, our little ‘chicken heart’ is staying clear from that spot where the poster was hung.
I guess this is the fun stage/phase every child will go through. This is the beginning of the communication period where they started to identify things, people and places. They are able to tell us what they want or don’t want… which is good so us, parents won’t have to play the guessing game anymore. Darrius will demand for a sip of water when I’m feeding him… which I reckon as a good sign as I don’t have to force him to drink like earlier as he will refused to even drink a drop! I am waiting patiently till the day he can tell me when he want to eat so I won’t have to stuff his little tummy with food thinking he could be hungry as my little ‘wai-sek-mau’ (glutton) just swallowed everything I offered him!
‘Can you see my little tummy???’
I have also noticed in the past weeks, his sleeping style has changed so much. I used to put him on tummy before he knew how to roll over. Eversince he knew how to roll to the left and right, he started to sleep face up. Then recently he likes to sleep this way….
BUTT UP!
