Dirty Tactics
I have wanted to post this a few days back but too busy cleaning and unpacking so have waited till tonight.
More than 2 years ago, I signed up for a Mini Card by this very reputable bank as they were having a road show at Times Square in KL. I sympathised with the sales guy as he has been trying so hard to coax me to sign up with him. Can’t remember the exact amount of commission he will get if he successfully signed up a potential subscriber… so thought of being kind, I signed up with him and they throw in the Lady’s Card as promotional gift. After all, it’s Free-4-Life and 1 year free for the Lady’s Card. Was thinking to cancel the Lady’s Card later when my 1 year is up… I don’t need that many cards.
A year has passed and I received a mail from the bank saying that due to the new ruling that all credit cards must have the new built-in chip, the Mini card is no longer valid after so and so date. Then I remembered that my Lady’s Card is near expiry as well so decided to kill it as I do not want to incurr additional charges… since I don’t need that card and I’ve never used it. So, I mailed them a letter asking them to terminate my card. After some time, I received a call from their CS telling me that I get an additional year free of subscription so I should keep my card… I told her I don’t need but she insisted so I lazy to say much and agreed… Bad Move!
Then in July I sent them another letter via snail mail telling them to terminate my card again as the renewal date is approaching (wasting another 30 cents stamp). Did not hear from them so thought all over and done. Then one day (2 months later), I received a statement and a letter telling me to charge RM80 every month or I have to pay RM10 every month as subscription fees! Damn!! So, I quickly call their hotline and spoke to one of the CS and she wanted me to fax my letter over or go to their branch to do the termination as they did not received my (snail) letter… super troublesome!:( Their branch also limited one so very inconvenient to go…
As I do not own a fax machine, have to trouble my dad to fax on my behalf from his office (I was in KL then and PiggyBeng was away). After sending the fax, I waited for them to call me but still no calls… Then came week 2, I called again and they still have not received my fax. So have to fax again! After faxing, I called them up and tell them to check if they have received my fax and if they do, give me a call…. still no calls.
Fed-up! I called again and a CS answered:
Me: I have faxed my letter over 2 times and still have not received any calls from your end.
CS: I will log in your call and check your fax and get back to you later.
Me: Later??? Can I hold on the line and you go check if you received me fax?
CS: Which number did you fax?
Me: Aiyah… the number your colleague gave me lor (read out the blardy fax number)
CS: I will log down your request and check for you and call you back later.
Me: Can’t you go check now? Is there only 1 fax machine you have???
CS: Yeah… we only have one fax machine.
Me: Can’t I just wait and you go check for me now (getting damn irritated)
CS: eerrr… we have a lot of faxes coming in and we need time to sort out the faxes.
Me:
(WTF! Is that my problem that you guys have tonnes of faxes to sort out????)
Getting really frustrated, I slammed the phone down and just hope they call me back asap but another week passed by and no news!!!!! Damn irked I called again! Another CS picked up the call (this CS damn suay as I was damn pissed lioa)
Me: I have sent 2 letters via post and you guys did not recived. Then I faxed 2 times and still you guys still have not get bak to me… still no calls…
CS: I will log down your request and check for you. Will get back to you shortly.
Me: So many days still cannot find my faxes???? How you guys work ah??? I am getting very irritated with the ways you guys do things. Your colleagues told me that they will call me back upon receiving my fax/faxes but till today… 3 weeks later and still nothing! I sent letters through post also told me might have lost in the way and to go to your branch also so inconvenient!
CS: I’m sorry. Let me check for you. Is your mobile no xxxxxxxxxx?
Me: No! I updated your collleague my new number.. it’s xxxxxxxxxx! Didn’t she record down my previous conversation????
CS: Oh! yeah…. I saw it here.
Me: Duh!
Me: Ok… I’m really pissed now… if you can’t help me, I want to speak to your Manager NOW!
CS: eerrr… I can check for you…… let me check if you can cancel your card without the letter or faxes…
Me: Check what check???? Checked so long still nothing! Can I speak to your Manager right NOW????? (was boiling)
CS: Ms XXX, can you please hold the line? It may takes a while…..
Me: SURE! (smoke coming out from my head lioa)
So waited for about 1-1.5 minutes…..
CS: Ms XXX, I have checked and I found your letter
Me: What???? You found my letter??? How come I called so many times and your colleagues told me they did not received my letter?
CS: Oh! I found it here in the file….
Me: So, is my card Cancelled Now?????
CS: Yes, I will update your record and in your next statement, it will be zerorised….
Me: Sure? How am I to know if my card is successfully cancelled? They are some charges you guys made me pay there….
CS: Don’t worry, I will update for you and you shall see in the next statement the amount will be zerorised…
Me: OK… I hope this is final!
Aaaaaaarrrgggghhhhhhh!!!! WTF are they trying to do????? What kind of tactic is that???? Is this the way banks and credit cards companys are trying to trick their customers to not cancel their cards by playing dirty???? I know some credit cards holders are not so on-the-ball with such trivial matter and these companies will try to take advantage of such customers and try to cash in on their laziness/ignorance….

So they do this all over the world. Really a pain in the @$$. Hope they do what they say they will.
Lesson learnt: Do not get suck in by c.c. salesperson. LOL! Whenever I’m in KL and see a c.c. salesperson I won’t make eye contact with him/her..hehe.
desperate means calls for desperate measures loh!…next time avoid them like the plaque…unless they have beautiful gifts la…hahhaa…to trap u!
aiyoh! if me i will sure give them hell and nightmares… i always ‘mm choi’ ppl like this in the mall..
That’s why never “kho lien” (pity) these people…heh heh…like my hubby, he has so many cc that once approved, he wants me to terminate them as he is helping his friends fulfill their quota! Such a hassle..sheesh.
If you don’t mind,please let me know what the bank is, i will jot down it and never apply card from them..:)

tehe! Ha i just got done reading it, Banks are screwed up. Who knows how mant stupid things they have done through out the years, I have never had troubles, but my boyfriend has, he had to wait 1 hour so the people could figure out how to work some machine, poor guy
but it was ok. He was very mad after that and he switched banks, i still have the same bacnk as i did a while ago. HOPEFULLY they wont screw up. hahaha lol i’m just given ya crap!
