MyKad? MyCard? KadSaya? SayaKad?
During those years spent studying in local schools yonks ago, it was unheard of when Malay and English words are being used together. Back then, all of us are struggling to master the Bahasa Malaysia for all our national examinations and having English words or using a Malay words translated from English words were an extreme rare case.
Now, such Malay and English being used interchangeably so rampantly are a common sight everywhere here and sometimes English words were being direct translated into Malay words which is so unprofessional and unorigional… when time and time again some of the related ministries stressed that Bahasa Malaysia should be used properly.
Now, after so many years of being confused to the extend we were doubting the originality of our national language, finally someone realised that our so-called national language is going rojak due to that fact that some ‘bodies’ are using too much of such mix’n'match words officially. I can’t help but agreed with this piece of news that the used of such words in our country should be minimised or stopped completely. The very obvious case is our identity card which is called MyKad. Even Darrius has his MyKid card which should be KadAnakSaya?
Sometimes, when I was watching the tele, I saw words like critical were actually translated to ‘kritikal’, emotion to ‘emosi’ and a whole lot more which I lost track. I wonder why such words were not being translated properly but they just changed the spelling from the original word?
Well, it’s certainly is good news now that our government finally realised that our used of the national language is going rojak and is fixing the problem.
