A Hokkien Mee Weekend

This weekend is all about Hokkien Mee …practically. PiggyBeng invited some of his relatives to test his skills in cooking the authentic Penang Hokkien Mee or more popular known as Prawn Noodles by many folks. According to PiggyBeng, his secret recipe was passed down by his grandfather who used to sell Hokkien Mee many decades ago… a popular one too. Unfortunately none of his children wanted to take over the business.

We started off on Friday afternoon when we went about buying all the ingredients for this signature dish at the Cecil St wet market… and Master Chef PiggyBeng is very particular about the sizes of those prawns… must have deep sea prawns lar…. He actually boiled the soup over night in order to have the ooommmpppphhh kind of taste…

These are the fried taupok (fried tofu puff) that I’ve made as snacks for the occasion… Boiled some red bean soup too but forgotten to take a shot of it. :)
