Another Reason Why Women Should Breastfeed
Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! 3 cheers for all breastfeeding moomies!
A recent news report by The Associated Press on ‘Weight Gained Between Pregnancies Risky’ revealed that mothers who gained more than 7 pound between their pregnancies could put themselves and their babies at medical risks such as diabetes or high blood pressure in their next pregnancies.

I am not sure about other moomies but I have gone back to my pre-pregnancy weight after 6 months of breasfeeding and I’m proud to report that I lost another 3kg after the 8th month even though I ate more than before.
So, who needs expensive post natal slimming programs which kept harrasing you to sign up more sessions and forces you to purchase more products when we can lose weight for free and also give the best to your babies???
Human milk is for human. Cow milk is for cow!

Don’t make me geram. I must be the only breastfeeding mum who puts on weight! I fully breastfeed my baby but no, I don’t lose the weight. To lose weight, I have to work very very hard at exercising and eating right. Cannot diet while breastfeeding so have to work on eating right.
MG, that makes 2 of us
I am soooooo jeles *pout*
ooops! pai seh… I thought most moomies managed to shed some weight off if they breastfeed beyond 6 months leh…
No ler. I’m still breastfeeding my 29 month old and yet to get back to my per-pregnancy weight. Must be the age and the slow metabolism.
totally agree to this!! I’m bf-ing my Vyktore, 4th month coming I’ve lost all my pre-Vyktore’s preggy weight. I’m now into pre-Faythe’s preggy weight..praying hard to loose somemore soon
I am always under-weight. During pregnant, i gain 20kgs. At first i tot at least i can keep some kgs so that i won’t be under-weight any more… But, after 1 year of breasfeeding, i am back to my pre-pregnancy weight! Haiya…
Before this, some older people always tell me: you so thin, sure no milk one, but i prove to them, I HAVE MILK!!!!! Haha… A bit out of topic hor!!!
Thats not surprising. People take things to easy and cow milk and soy has made things so much easier, especially for working moms.
Hey no graphics? I’m sure Darious would not mind giving a demonstration. 0.0 *runs away faster* (I hope)
Ooo..I didn’t loose weight but gained like mad while I was breastfeeding my son cos the kiasu me ate & ate & ate cos afraid not enough nutrients in the milk! So learning from experience, I did loose the flabs while breastfeeding my girl!
Breastfeeding is without any doubt the most excellent means to nourish your newly born baby. It has got a lot of benefits as compared to feeding with a bottle and barely any drawbacks.
1. Breastfeeding helps moms lose weight and get back to their pre-pregnancy size.
2. Breastfeeding is effective in combating postpartum depression
3. Colostrum is the first food available to breastfeeding newborns, and is tailor-made to meet the nutritional needs of newborn infants, breastfeeding babies do not require the large volumes of fluid required for bottle-fed babies during the first few days of life.
