Picked up RM1 but Burnt RM2223…
Earlier in the afternoon, we went to get Darrius’s air ticket @ SIA office.
When PiggyBeng reversed his car out of the porch, I saw RM1 lying on the floor…wah thought today lucky day… got FREE money mah… Guess what I did with the RM1? Of coz buy TOTO lah!
(please pray that I’ll strike ok… you will know why I need that money)
So, we went about to have our lunch before heading to town where SIA sales office was located. Traffic was bad as it was Friday afternoon and just after the Friday prayers (cars were parked along roads which caused massive traffic jams).
Surprisingly SIA sales office was empty when we arrived. We took a Q number (yea.. even when there’s isn’t anyone in the Q we still need to take Q no.) and was called almost immediately. Passed Darrius’s and my passports to the lady in the counter and we waited almost 30 mins before the lady called us again.
Guess what she told us?? The ticket for Darrius was amounted to RM2223.00!!! Wah… only a bassinet also cost that much??? Aiyoh, PiggyBeng’s heart almost drop!
Actually, before we decided to make that trip to LA, I’ve checked with SIA’s customer service staff and find out the price for a 11-month old baby. She gave me a quote and the price was around RM850 (fare) and so I called her personally to confirm if include all the taxes, how much the total fare would be. I was told to be less than a thousand Ringgit. So, we thought just a thousand bucks should be quite ok and continue with our plans. Never expected the fare can go double! Even the adult’s taxes was much less! We paid around RM998.00 each.
PiggyBeng has yet to recover from the shock. So I have to pay for groceries and dinner coz PiggyBeng is still in a daze… my poor larling! Haiya, my MIL (PiggyBeng’s mom) always told us that babies below 2 years old don’t have to pay a cent to fly on a plane… wonder where that notion from… My sister-in-law travels frequently with her kids to Germany and back with MAS… so I really wonder if MAS let babies below 2 to fly for free…
Ok, after groceries shopping we were on our way home and Darrius puked on me! Aaaarrrggghh!! Out of the blue this happened… even when much younger, Darrius hardly regurgitate after drinking milk or puke but of all days… his puke has to come out today… *hiaz*
So, picking up RM1 and ended up spending more than RM2000…. what a day!
Need to tiok TOTO ah!!!!!

alamak, how come so expensive!!! I know Airasia for sure is FOC for kids below 2. Only need to pay Rm10 (dunno apa charge).
gee, i tot it was only like 20 % of the airfare??? Could you do something about the misrepresentation from the personnel who misquote you? maybe file a complain and get a rebate?
but on that note, you had better bring along a change of clothes for the flight. We went for day trips outstation twice and i was stuck with Ashley’s vomit on my newly decorated tee the whole day till we could find a shop that sells a change of clothes.
What a shocker!. Hoping you win some righteous coin to cover some of these costs. Heck. Not gonna have any shopping money at this rate.
Poor Darius. Poor mommy. Poor Dad. Nobody had a good day hor?
hi, i tot kids below 2 fly half fare or 30% of full fare? better check with them again… last time my nephew fly 30$ of the full fare when he went to korea with my BIL. flying MAS … nice blog…
Yah I flew to Australia with Kieran when he was 18months via MAS and enjoyed 70% off the full fare. Hmm…strange. I thought children under 2 only pay 30% of the fare…maybe they changed?? I dunno…Should have checked with other airlines..Wow…really admire your courage of taking your baby over a long haul flight, cos the last time during the 8 hours flight to Australia we almost went bonkus leow!
We paid 10% of the full fare actually… but since it was converted from SGD, it sure is more expensive!
jazzmint,
not RM10 ah…is RM20… so if the adult ticket is RM9.90 (during promo) I might as well get a seat for Darrius also right?
Mom2One,
aiyah… I did not file the tele-conversation we had lor…so there’s no point for me to argue… which was my mistake.
SA,
Yeah, tot was my lucky day… but Darrius puke was all over my pants… it sure is stinko!!
mylittlechampion,
luckily not 30% ah! The full fare was RM12,000++
and 10% was already so much.
lundryamah,
you don’t scare me leh… I am quite worry if he poops…how to wash??? the toliet so narrow and the sink soooo tiny! Even use wipes I still think it’s not completely clean lor…
hahaha…. you must have dropped the RM1 in your own porch gua.
if Darrius got a twin, then the fare will be xxxx
That’s a lot! What to do? Air ticket increase, tax also increase, only our salaries no increase
wah 10% is very cheap oredi!! is it a tour package?? yah me too, cannot rely on wipes, must wash one!! in plane’s toilet very difficult but still possible. there’s a plug in the sink so can store water for washing!
nyonyapenang,
heng ah… if that was the case, we can’t even smell LA!
Immomsdaughter,
I mana ada salary??? That’s why PiggyBeng grumbles a lot coz he’s footing all our bills!
laundryamah,
not tour package… purchase direct from SIA.
This is surprising since SIA customer service is pretty good – I would call and complain about it since you had specifically checked earlier. Kids under 2 only pay 20-30% off regular fares so this is ridiculous. Try to get a refund!
For MAS, I got family fare for our return trip to Kuching & Lucas ticket is also 90% off for a trip to South Asia.
Anne’s ticket to Netherlands cost RM900++. So, confirmed that MAS also charged children under 2 years old… No free lunch in this world la…. but RM2000+ is a very expensive!
is the tax that cost a bomb. fare itself is 10%, but the taxes for LAX is very high, around USD200-300 depending on which airline too.
