Launching my Own Cooking Blog

Published by Angeleyes under Makan Time!

Tadaaa….

I’ve just started my own cooking blog @ FoodNotes.

Just can’t resist having another site… so my itchy hands registered other weblog with WordPress.

My new blog is mainly for my daily culinary adventures as I would like to keep RamlingMoo for other tok-kok kind of posts or about Darrius’s little antics so best to keep them separated.

FoodNotes will feature most of my home cooking recipes which I learned from my mom, relatives and friends over the years. Besides that, I will also post about some cooking tips, ideas or secrets which I picked up now and then.

Hope to get all your support…. :D

Another Reason Why Women Should Breastfeed

Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! 3 cheers for all breastfeeding moomies!

A recent news report by The Associated Press on ‘Weight Gained Between Pregnancies Risky’ revealed that mothers who gained more than 7 pound between their pregnancies could put themselves and their babies at medical risks such as diabetes or high blood pressure in their next pregnancies.

To read the full report, please click on the link above.

I am not sure about other moomies but I have gone back to my pre-pregnancy weight after 6 months of breasfeeding and I’m proud to report that I lost another 3kg after the 8th month even though I ate more than before.

So, who needs expensive post natal slimming programs which kept harrasing you to sign up more sessions and forces you to purchase more products when we can lose weight for free and also give the best to your babies???

Human milk is for human. Cow milk is for cow!

My Little Cheeky Boy

Published by Angeleyes under My Prince

Ever since I started this blog, I was like a sioa-mama. Every now and then will pull out the camera and try to snap here and there anticipating those ‘magic moments’…. well not that my anticipations are always answered but more like I tried making something to happen…

_3665s.JPG

Just like the shot above. I noticed Darrius was in a cheery mood that day so I quickly take out the camera and asked him to smile. Initially he was a bit blur-blur but when he saw me with the camera he flashed flashed me his cheeky smile. :) Was lucky to capture it though cause the following shots were all ’spoilt’. The thing is, Darrius will normally do it when we first asked him to but if we continue to pester him he will do all the irritating stuff and would not cooperate anymore.

Darrius @ Ah-Chor’s place

Published by Angeleyes under My Prince

This is another overdue post… was rather tired the past few days so did not do any postings.

This is a video which we captured when we brought Darrius to his Ah-Chor’s (greatgrandmum in Hokkien) place which was just 5 minutes drive from our place. Normally we (Darrius+myself) will go there very frequently if my MIL (mother-in-law) is around but since she is still in Germany, we (PiggyBeng+Darrius+myself) have not been going there so frequently.

Darrius’s Ah-Cho only speaks Hokkien so there is a language barrier between her and myself so it’s rather silly if I go there myself with Darrius… cause I won’t be able to make out what she is trying to tell me! Well, I have been trying to learn to speak Hokkien but since I couped up in the house most of the time… it’s harder and will take much longer…

Darrius just loves to bang on things…. and just look at those sexy thighs…. :P

Picked up RM1 but Burnt RM2223…

Published by Angeleyes under Juz Rambling, Rants

Earlier in the afternoon, we went to get Darrius’s air ticket @ SIA office.

When PiggyBeng reversed his car out of the porch, I saw RM1 lying on the floor…wah thought today lucky day… got FREE money mah… Guess what I did with the RM1? Of coz buy TOTO lah! :P (please pray that I’ll strike ok… you will know why I need that money)

So, we went about to have our lunch before heading to town where SIA sales office was located. Traffic was bad as it was Friday afternoon and just after the Friday prayers (cars were parked along roads which caused massive traffic jams).

Surprisingly SIA sales office was empty when we arrived. We took a Q number (yea.. even when there’s isn’t anyone in the Q we still need to take Q no.) and was called almost immediately. Passed Darrius’s and my passports to the lady in the counter and we waited almost 30 mins before the lady called us again.

Guess what she told us?? The ticket for Darrius was amounted to RM2223.00!!! Wah… only a bassinet also cost that much???  Aiyoh, PiggyBeng’s heart almost drop! :|

darriustix.JPG

Actually, before we decided to make that trip to LA, I’ve checked with SIA’s customer service staff and find out the price for a 11-month old baby. She gave me a quote and the price was around RM850 (fare) and so I called her personally to confirm if include all the taxes, how much the total fare would be. I was told to be less than a thousand Ringgit. So, we thought just a thousand bucks should be quite ok and continue with our plans. Never expected the fare can go double! Even the adult’s taxes was much less! We paid around RM998.00 each.

PiggyBeng has yet to recover from the shock. So I have to pay for groceries and dinner coz PiggyBeng is still in a daze… my poor larling! Haiya, my MIL (PiggyBeng’s mom) always told us that babies below 2 years old don’t have to pay a cent to fly on a plane… wonder where that notion from… My sister-in-law travels frequently with her kids to Germany and back with MAS… so I really wonder if MAS let babies below 2 to fly for free…

Ok, after groceries shopping we were on our way home and Darrius puked on me! Aaaarrrggghh!! Out of the blue this happened… even when much younger, Darrius hardly regurgitate after drinking milk or puke but of all days… his puke has to come out today… *hiaz*

So, picking up RM1 and ended up spending more than RM2000…. what a day! :(

Need to tiok TOTO ah!!!!!

Beware of your Daily Loaves!!!

Published by Angeleyes under News Links, Alamak!

Our most popular breakfast item is being investigated as it was found containing an excessive amounts of a health hazardous preservative called propionic acid which is used to prevent the growth of mould and some bacteria in bake goods so they stay fresh for a longer period…

According to today’s news, even some burger breads from two popular fast food chains were found cointaining hig amount of this substance besides some 40 over other types of breads sold in the market.

So, we have to stay away from one of our favourite breaky item while the authorities do their check… until our daily loaves are certified safe to be consumed again… :)

Refrain from giving your little ones bread until the coast is clear as this substance can damage your kids’ brain growth!

Zeng..zeng…zeng… I’m 10-month old eledi!

Published by Angeleyes under Milestone, Googoo-Gaagaa

Geezee… can’t believe it… I’m actually 10-month old today!!! Like what mommy said, I’m a big boy lioa… but then hor… there are still tonnes of things she and daddy won’t allow me to do yet… being a 10-month old and still being treated very much like a small and helpless baby… *pout* :(

Anyway, I’m not going to sulk on that right now coz I wanted to check my milestone (woooo… that’s an adult’s word :)) and see how far I am in my growth chart… guess gong-gong and poh-poh will be excited to know what I am capable of doing now…. hehehe ;) though I see them almost any other night over Skype…. see, little me also go on video conferencing leh… and I’m proud to declare that I can recognise gong-gong, poh-poh, kau-fu and kam-moh without problems at all. I can do my standing stunts, clap my hands and wave my hands when gong-gong and poh-poh asked me to over the webcam. :) Sometimes when my mood is good I even shake my butt-butt and scream and squel in delight!

Ok, the not so impressive thing is, mommy and daddy has been telling all the uncles and aunties who were trying to pinch my little chubby cheeks, that I’m a little terror at home but looked so angelic when I’m out on the street… ;) Aiyah, little me just love the occasional mischief mah… or else I’ll be an old and boring dude like daddy… not interested in anything except money and his PCs…. hah! :P

_3649s.JPG

Weight:

*pst**pst* I’m 10kg during my last standing on the scale… could be more but since the scale is not really working properly, I’m happy to maintain at this weight. :)

Height:

Let face it… little me only standing at 71cm… did I get that gene from mommy or who ah??? *hmmph* :(

Diaper size:

I’m not that fat lar just that my sexy thighs are a wee bit too muscular for my own liking. :( Hence, mommy have to put on the XL size diaper so my little butties can have some airy room… if not, when I poo… those “cookies” will stuck to my butties ah! Sooooooo yuckky! (Ok, I know I must learn to like the potty and be a good boy and sit on it religiously every morning to avoid having “cookies” sticking on my butties) :|

Teeth:

I have 4 visible tooth leh! Not complaining though my set of whities are not the most perfect-yet… after all I’m only 10-month old mah! At least I can bite when mommy trying her many attempts to clean them!! She’s lucky I can’t chew yet or else there goes her finger! :P

Cloth size:

I’m out-growing most of my cute bear-bear rompers, tops and pants. Luckily daddy bought some bigger size ones during his last trip to US so I still have some decent looking covers when I go gai-gai. Believe it or not, I’m donning size for 18-24 months leh! :D

Diet:

Woooweee! This is my favourite section. For your information, I still like mommy’s milk and it is a must everytime I’m in foul mood coz that is the only thing I want when I don’t feel good, sleepy or unhappy. I need it to doze off too or I will get really voilent and will start banging my head against the wall! :P (yea….I can go to that extreme… hehehe)

Besides the normal oat cereal with raisins I have for breaky now, mommy is giving me oat mixed with chopped peach or nestum and yogurt with rice pops… they taste soooo yummy!

For lunch and dinner, mommy will normally cook porridge with meat, fish or scallop and add some vege such as spinach, pumpkin and carrot. Recently she has been really adventurous and started me on pasta too. Of course I chomped them down without much fight…. unlike the time when she tried to push those jarred pear and mango puree into my mouth… only to make me screamed and cried in protest! :P

Speech:

Though I may only babble some unrecognisable words but I know my stuff. Like when mommy asked me about the bird, I will look out of the window and mumble ‘bbiirrdd’ repeatedly. When I’m travelling in daddy’s car I will babble non stop and kept repeating ‘caaaarrr’ as if the only word I knew. I have a plastic corn toy in the room and when daddy taught me to say ‘corn’ I can follow and said it too without much fuss. Ain’t I’m smart? hehehe Occasionally I will do like what normal kids my age do… babble the infamous “maaaamaaaabaaaabaaaa” that sounds like mumm-mumm (food) or mommy thought I’m calling her mama (hah! fat chance!). I have plenty of bear toys so is no surprise I know how to mutter “behh-behh-behh” when I see those. Sometimes I like to yak non stop too saying “dahdahdahdahhhhh”… not sure what it means but it came naturally… :P

Well, that was about it at the moment. Hopefully things will improve the next couple of weeks so I can place order for the food I want to eat when I’m in LA. :P

Motor Skill:

Well, well, little me knows how to transfer toys from one hand to the other now. I can even press-press those buttons on the calculator mommy let me play with. Those toys attached to my Bouncing-Baby are not my match anymore as I know how to press all the buttons, swing that lady hanging on the swing, move the guy that stick to the car, open the door on the house and press the bell and the doggie house too. All look so easy-pesy now as I’m getting more knowledgeable as the day goes…so don’t try me! hehe

I can spot tiny little stuff that lies on the floor, bed and everywhere and pick them up too! (mommy was so paranoid that I’ll swallow lizard’s poo any day now ever since she saw me flicking with ’stuff’ I discovered) Hey! I could be the future Sherlock Holmes leh! But mommy always think otherwise… she told poh-poh I’m the house’s new vaccum cleaner! *pout* :(

Mommy also tested me to see if I could pick my own food and feed myself and I proudly proofed it to her that her little man sure ’boleh’! :) Though I still can’t hold the spoon, fork or chopsticks yet but I’m sure those are chicken feet stuff in no time… :P

I love to be on mommy’s bed… it’s the place where I can crawl about, do some gymnastic, go rolly-polly and play piggyback with daddy. Proud to annouce that I can crawl at a very fast speed too… almost 8/mpm (8 metres per minute)! However, there mustn’t be any stuff that get in my way or I’ll be too busy moving, shaking and banging it about that I’ll forget completely that I’m supposed to move forward! :P

Daddy taught me how to do the ^5 stinct and now I’m expert lioa. When I heard ‘give me 5 or high 5′ I will raise one of my hand and wait for yours to clap on mine…. ain’t I’m cool? Besides that, if you asked me to ‘taa-taa’ (beat-beat) I will beat my hands on yours too… this is gong-gong’s favourite coz I can do so well and respond real fast to that… been doing this since I was 4-month old…

Last but not least, I can use my butties to turn 360 degrees too… and of course climbling up and down at any chance I get.

Emotion:

Little me is a very direct kinda guy. If I’m happy I’ll show it with my smile and laughters that sometimes mommy thought I’ve gone nuts or something. That because I can start laughing for no apparent reasons when I’m in one of those jovial mood. Then if I’m really annoyed, like when daddy left me alone in the playpen (my little cage) to play his PC game or when mommy is too busy with her cooking or doing some other stuff, I will show my temper… I will scream, kick, wriggle and cries my lungs out to get their attention…. coz little me just wanna be carried and don’t wanna be alone!

Intelligence:

Don’t underestimate little me for I’m smarter than you thought! :P Ever since I discovered that there are more stuff I can lay my hands on below the bed, I have came up with tricks so that little me can get down and play with those stuff. One of the tricks I will do is to throw some of my toys down and pretend to reach for them… and slowly crawl down… ;P

Also, I can recognise most of my toys when mommy ask me to reach for them… I know which one is Sponge Bob (the yellow guy holding the guitar), Patrick Star (the guy holding a butterfly net), my favourite pink rubber ducky, most of my water babies, at least those that mommy gave a name to it lah…Grapes (this one I loves to bite most when I’m up stairs in the room), Nuby (my colourful teether), Bear-bear bolster (the big bolster mommy just bought), Clown-are-cool (the stickers on my tubbler), Butterfly (those found on my pillow case), my Blue Elephant rattle, the Yellow Rabbit teether, the Mickey Mouse telephone rattle and… ok ok, the list can go on and on if I don’t stop here….phew~ did not realise that I have that many toys! :P

Don’t even think that I’ll go to you if you are sitting down! I will only glue to the person who are carrying me and walk about and of coz go out of the house lar… who wants to stay in the house and get rot rite???! Even little me knows the world outside is so much more interesting! :)

Oh NO!!! MI Going into the Pitt!

Published by Angeleyes under Bleh~

I can’t believe this!!!

First it was Pierce Brosnan being cut from James Bond and now that arm Pitt man is going to replace Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible IV!!!! :| *yucks* *yucks* *yucks*

What an appalling piece of news! That’s it! Not going to watch any MI from then onwards…

The entire movie is not going to be the same anymore… coz no one can replace Tom Cruise in MI… though they cited that the arm Pitt man will be in a different role but I don’t think I (and other Cruise’s fans) like that idea at all… so crappy! And to know Paramount is going to offer arm Pitt man $39 million to do the next MI is horrendous!

Same goes for Agent 007… no Pierce Brosnan, no James Bond for me! :P

Note: I’m not a Tom Cruise die hard fans, nor I’m a Scientology believer or what-so-ever and though I know Tom Cruise is not an excellent actor coz he did some crappy movies before but he fits in his character in MI… that’s all….

Money Back, No questions ask….

Published by Angeleyes under Juz Rambling

In a span of 3 weeks PiggyBeng has bought a total of 3 pants! This is rather unusual as he seldom shops for clothings… His excuse? I can’t find the colour that match my suit… (lame?… hahahaha) Well, he bought a suit (blazer + pants) for his graduation some 10 years ago and only the blazer still fitting but not the pants… (obvious right?) He wore it to two of his convocation ceremonies and skiped the last one so the total time he has the suit on is only two… totally under ultilise.

When we met some 5 years ago (wow! how time flies!) he was really slim… which he used to boast also lah! :P Then he returned to Penang and started working. With all the travelling and home cooked food… it did not take long when his waistline also sort of ‘prosper’ :D
In fact a few months ago, he already packed some of his jeans to give away and a few weeks back he realised some of his pants are giving way too! One of the day I joked that if he ever bend down his pants will burst! hahahaha

During our recent trip to KL, he managed to get two pairs but was dissapointed coz the colour is still not matching. Then one of the day while we were grocery shopping at Tesco Penang, he saw a pair with a rather close to what he was looking for so decided to bring his suit’s pants for a match.

Few days later we returned and he bought the pants. As it was too long so he asked for an alteration. Tesco provides Free alteration services.

However, while he was about to iron the pants yesterday, he realised there was a hole (accidentally cut hole) and was furious and started to curse and swear… which is nothing unusual… :P
Told him don’t be so mad. Just talk nicely and Tesco will sure exchange the pants for him. This is one good thing about big foreign hypermarkets that adopt the ‘Refund/Money Back without questions ask’ policy. True enough, there were no questions asked and Tesco offered to refund with another pair of pants. Of course PiggyBeng is happy lah…. He was extremely satisfied too… :-)
I remembered once when I was in Sydney, I bought a pair of boots from K-Mart and found out a few days later that one of the soles came off. At that time I was ski-ing at Perisher Blue which was a few hundreds miles away so can’t send for an exchange immediately. I wore it for my entire trip (5 days) and went back to the shop for an exchange upon my return… they gave me a full refund!!! They told me if I wanted to have the similar pairs of shoes I can puchase again with the monies refunded and if I decided not to… I can go home without any other purchases… That was just so great!

This policy is so great but according to a friend of mine, there are people out there whom will abuse such policy. Some people actually purchased cloths or gadgets and used it for a period of time with the intention of returning them after a function or task is over and done. As most of the refund policy valid for 30 days… I’m not surprised that some bad eggs will take advantage of the good intention. :(

Little Me is Back!

Published by Angeleyes under Googoo-Gaagaa

Well… it has been a while since my little face is plastered in this place and some of you must be wondering where I have MIA to. You see, mommy is darn busy trying to clear all those overdue postings on food places we visited during our recent KL trip hence she has KIVed all my kickings the past week… :P (Obviously food still hold the 1st place in mommy’s heart…. hiazzzzz~)

Also, those virus baddies has held up some of mommy’s time as she has to wait for daddy to fix the PC before she can starts putting my face up here again… :D However, mommy is still religiously recording some of my antics though she is sooooo darn busy trying to keep me busy…hehhehe *I’m a little devil in disguise*

_3636s.JPG

Now…. can you see me… still as stylo as before… Aiyah, I know I did not smile for this shot coz I was busy with something and mommy came suddenly and asked me to smile… so I’m not prepared.

_3645s.JPG

I even know how to pose and flash my most wannababe smile leh! Actually mommy has been chasing me around with the camera so I really pity her, therefore, as mommy’s little angel, I do her a favour by giving my best smile so she can starts packing her bag and bring me go gai-gai! Don’t I looked cheeky here eh? :P
