The street is raining Cempedak…
The durian is fast making the vanishing act. In the past few weeks, practically everywhere we go, we saw fruit sellers displaying heaps of cempedak (Artocarpus champeden) in their stalls. The aroma is strong too… just like durian but at least it don’t stink your car if you leave it for a while but rather it gave a fragrant like smell.
I love cempedak *slurp*. Every time when we passed by the stall selling deep fried cempedak it will definitely tickle our senses and crave for it. However, it’s not cheap as it can cost from RM0.40 sen to RM0.70 sen for a piece! How to satisfy our craving if we just eat a few pieces right?
So PiggyBeng decided to try his hands in frying them. We bought one cempedak fruit from a stall along Jalan Perak. Not cheap… it’s RM2.50 p/kg. The one we bought cost RM5 so it’s about 2kg. It has about 30 pieces altogether. Very fragrant and sweet too.
Then we bought a packet of crispy flour from the supermarket to be used for the frying. We removed the seed inside. There are people who like to fried with the seed as it can also be eaten but PiggyBeng preffered it to be seedless.
Not bad for a first timer… though some turned out to be not so crispy.
Now that we ate so much in a day… guess we won’t have any craving for it for a long while!
