Snow in regional Melbourne!

Last night it actually snowed in Ballarat which is on the north west of Melbourne! Tonite we are expecting the coldest night for this winter and hopefully there will be snow around our suburb! :)

The snow mountains has been having record snow fall… just too bad we can’t go since the kids have school. Hopefully we’ll get to go next year when Erinne is older.

Christmas in July!

Merry Christmas from the Southern Hemisphere!

We are in the mid of winter here in Melbourne and with the cold and heavy snow on the mountains, we are actually celebrating Christmas! You won’t believe it, there are actually events here for Christmas in July!

Since we are not Christians, we don’t celebrate but that does not means we don’t buy those Christmas’s novelty items especially when they go on sale! Then again, we don’t really have to fret as there are dept 56 christmas in the city where you can actually get everything Christmas any time of the year.

The good thing is, we get more discount if we shop early… so why not shop now and get to save some bucks?!

Review : PicsArt Photo Studio for iPhone

picsart

.

Though I do not post photos everyday on my blogs but I do post quite a bit over at my Facebook accounts. In fact I share a lot of photos with my family and friends especially on the kids and some of my cooking and baking adventures. Sharing via smartphones are so much more convenient now and with some really cool photo editing apps such as PicsArt really make photo sharing fun.

If you have not heard about PicsArt yet, I can bet with you that this is one of the most comprehensive photo editing apps I’ve come across so far. I have downloaded heaps of other apps but none came close to what PicsArt can do! Seriously, I am still fiddling with all the features so much so, it looks more like a full suite software than just an apps for handheld devices.

It is a very user friendly apps if you have been using some of the other photo editing apps before. You can even do collages with it too! Best of all, it is FREE! It has a basic toolbar where you can launch directly from your phone either from the photo gallery or capturing the image instantly and work from there.

Lets take a look at what it has…

.

Basic Tools

There are a total of 9 tools that you can use which includes cropping, flipping/rotating, free cropping, shape cropping, stretching, cloning, curves, color (brightness & contrast) and resizing.

Effects

There are tons of effects to choose from! Besides the normal FX features such as Cinerama, Twilight and Lomo, I particularly like the Sepia and B&W Vintage. Beside the regular correction too to fix red eyes, there are tools for you to fix blemishes and teeth whitening! Extremely awesome!

Draw

Here is the fun stuff. You can draw, add text (there are so many fonts to choose from!), add shapes, add more photos and even have layers! It started to look like Photoshop!

Mask

I was stunned to see this function. I can actually add Bokeh for my photos! Knowing my phone can’t get me the bokeh effects, this function certainly gave that edge. Totally love it! Other than that, you can also add texture or even add some artistic features on to your photos such as starburst and etc.

Border and Frame

There are heaps to choose from and seriously, I was totally drown trying to decide which to use!

Clipart

Another really fun stuff from this app. You can jazz up your really boring photos using stuff from here.

Lens Flare

Another really nice feature available especially for those photos with dark background.

Callout

I so love this one. This feature sure to brighten up those dull photos! I love it as it has so many designs compared to some other apps I have used in the past.

PicsArt has an impressive social media integration which includes Facebook, Flickr, Instagram, Twitter, Fousquare, Google, Dropbox and etc besides other then saving in your phone’s photo gallery.

Apart from sharing your photos via the regular social media, you can even share them in the PicsArt gallery with other PicsArt users as a registered member. Its sort of give you an idea what others are doing so you can test them on your photos.

Overall, it is a really cool apps but I must say it is a little overwhelming in the beginning as there were just too many things and it kind of confusing. However, once you get the hang of it, it gets easier. Sometimes you’ll tend to fixed with the few editing functions for most of the photos that you have.

Download the apps here.

Back in Penang

2 weeks ago, PiggyBeng went back to Penang for a week. My FIL was admitted into hospital due to some problem in his colon. He was hospitalized for almost 6 weeks. Luckily he is healthy again for now.

Since PiggyBeng was there, I have asked him to bring some of the stuff that I did not bring along when we left for Melbourne the last time. I have for some reasons left my entire box of costume jewelry behind. I told Glennedine that I will pass her some of the stuff which I can’t use. There is a necklace and pendant set which has her name on it that I hope she can wear now. Also, there are a few promise rings for her which she can wear when the time is right.

Other than the jewelry, PiggyBeng also brought back some other un-useful items >.<

Lil’ Dragon turned 2!

Can’t believe how time flies! Though I have been hoping the kids grow faster each day but I just can’t believe how fast they have grown!

Our little dragon girl has turned 2 last Thursday! She is the baby of the family and will remain that way :) It is a happy and sad feeling (I’d never imagine I’ll say this!!!) which is hard to describe!

PiggyBeng was away in Adelaide till last on Thursday night so we decided to celebrate the next day which happened to be Good Friday. We gave her a small celebration since her grandparents are here…

She wanted the same theme (Hoot of Giggle and Hoot) as last year so I decided to ramp it up a bit with a more elaborate cake. With the cool and dry weather, the cake survived :)

Going for guitar?

After finding out that Darrius is not too keen with his keyboard lessons after having difficulties playing with both hands, I contemplated of sending him to guitar lessons instead. However, I still have to see how he is doing before making the final decision. Will have to check with his trainer end of the term to see how is his performance.

For now I don’t have to start shopping for any keyboard as yet. If I have to change him to the guitar lessons then I might have to start looking for a guitar instead. Luckily I don’t have to look for those heavy stuff yet else I will go bonkers even I can find affordable digitech from guitar center. Phew~

My Birthday cake

Celebrated my birthday end of last month at home. Did not do any special celebration as PiggyBeng has to be away for on site testing in Geelong which is almost 2 hours drive from our place and he can’t promise what time he can be home. By the time he was home it was almost 7.30pm.

Cooked a simple meal and baked a simple cake for the sake of the kids…

.

cake

.

It was a simple chocolate cake with fresh cream and loads of strawberries which the kids love. Glennedine asked me why there were no fondant… coz I don’t want her to ingest so much sugar!

Anyway, it was a good day and everyone enjoyed the home cooked meal and the cake. That was what mattered :)
